Job Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Network Engineer (L1) to join our IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining the organization’s network infrastructure. This position focuses on ensuring seamless connectivity, with an emphasis on Switching and Routing technologies.


Key Responsibilities:

Network Support and Troubleshooting:

  • Monitor network performance and resolve connectivity issues.
  • Identify and troubleshoot network outages or performance bottlenecks.
  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving Layer 2 and Layer 3 network issues.

Switching & Routing Configuration:

  • Configure and manage VLANs, access control lists (ACLs), and inter-VLAN routing.
  • Implement and maintain routing protocols like OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP.
  • Perform regular backups of switch and router configurations.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of network configurations, changes, and incidents.
  • Generate regular reports on network performance and health.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with senior network engineers and other IT teams to implement solutions.
  • Assist in deploying new networking hardware and updating existing setups.

Network Security:

  • Support the implementation of security measures, including firewalls and network segmentation.
  • Monitor for and respond to potential security threats on the network.

Customer Support:

  • Provide Level 1 support to internal users for network-related issues.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to higher levels when necessary.


Key Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Layer 2 (Switching) and Layer 3 (Routing) concepts.
  • Familiarity with network hardware from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, or HP.
  • Understanding of routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, EIGRP) and switching protocols (e.g., STP, VLANs).
  • Experience with IP subnetting and network troubleshooting tools.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (preferred).
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA or equivalent (required).


Experience:

  • 1–2 years of experience in network support or a related role.
  • Internship or hands-on training in networking technologies is a plus.
