About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer with a mechanical engineering background and

expertise in furniture design and engineering. The ideal candidate will play a key role

in developing new prototypes, optimizing designs for efficiency, and ensuring high-quality

manufacturing standards. This role requires strong technical proficiency in SolidWorks,

structural analysis, and BOM management to enhance product performance while

minimizing material usage and costs.


Key Responsibilities:

Product Design & Engineering:

• Design and develop innovative furniture prototypes using CAD tools such

as SolidWorks.

• Conduct structural analysis to ensure durability, stability, and optimal material usage.

• Work with wood, metal, and composite materials to create efficient and

aesthetically pleasing designs.

• Implement ergonomic and functional principles in furniture design.

Prototyping & Manufacturing:

• Collaborate with vendors, production teams, and material suppliers to ensure

manufacturability.

• Develop engineering drawings, technical documentation, and BOMs for production.

• Optimize designs for weight and material reduction without compromising quality.

• Conduct DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) reviews to

enhance efficiency.

Cost & Quality Optimization:

• Analyze material selection and reduce costs by optimizing BOM components.

• Implement new techniques and materials to improve product quality and

sustainability.

• Work closely with procurement, supply chain, and quality assurance teams for cost-

effective production.

Testing & Validation:

• Perform load-bearing tests, stress analysis, and failure mode analysis to ensure

product reliability.

• Identify and resolve structural weaknesses in furniture designs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with interior designers, architects, and production teams to align

design goals.

• Provide technical input during product development cycles.


Key Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field.

• 3-6 years of experience in furniture design engineering.

• Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and other CAD software.

• Strong understanding of structural analysis, materials, and woodwork

manufacturing techniques.

• Knowledge of BOM management, cost reduction strategies, and design

optimization.

• Experience in prototyping, DFM/DFA, and mass production.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.
