  • Strong expertise in tax laws, compliance, and litigation.
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.

F. Job Overview:

  • The Group Head - Direct Taxation is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the organization's direct tax functions. Reporting to the Group CFO, this position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with direct tax laws, minimizing tax liabilities through strategic planning, and providing guidance on tax-related matters across the organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in direct taxation, particularly within the manufacturing sector, and possess strong expertise in tax compliance, tax planning, and litigation.
  • In this role, the Group Head - Direct Taxation will lead a team of tax professionals, develop tax-efficient strategies, and advise senior management on the tax implications of business decisions and changes in tax laws. Additionally, this individual will handle tax assessments, manage disputes with tax authorities, and collaborate closely with internal departments and external stakeholders, including auditors, legal advisors, and tax consultants. The role requires a high level of technical expertise, strong leadership abilities, and exceptional communication skills to effectively manage the tax function and contribute to the organization's strategic goals.

G. Key Responsibilities:

a) Tax Compliance:

  • Ensure full compliance with all direct tax laws, including corporate tax, TDS, and advance tax.
  • Oversee accurate and timely filing of tax returns and other statutory obligations.

b) Tax Planning:

  • Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies aimed at minimizing the company's tax liabilities.
  • Provide insightful guidance on the tax implications of business decisions and transactions.

c) Litigation and Dispute Resolution:

  • Handle tax assessments, appeals, and litigation with tax authorities.
  • Liaise with external consultants and legal advisors to ensure effective dispute resolution.

d) Advisory Role:

  • Advise the management on changes in tax laws and their impact on the organization's operations and financial position.
  • Provide expertise in cross-border transactions and ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations.

e) Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of tax professionals.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the tax team.

f) Stakeholder Management:

  • Collaborate with internal departments such as finance, legal, and operations to ensure tax considerations are properly integrated into business decisions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external auditors, consultants, and tax authorities to facilitate smooth operations and compliance.
