JOB DESCRIPTION Engineer/ Senior Engineer-App – SRE, Digital

Business Purpose:

WORK FROM OFFICE

This position is required to provide technology leadership on medium to large scale products/platform with internal and direct customer impact.

Education: B.E./B.Tech, MCA or Equivalent Computer Degree

Purpose:

The candidate in Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) are responsible for keeping all user-facing services and production infrastructure systems running smoothly.

SREs are a blend of pragmatic operators and software craftspeople that apply sound engineering principles, operational discipline, and mature automation to our operating environments. The candidate will be solely responsible for building, managing the team of SRE eng who will implementing best practices for availability, reliability and scalability, of SonyLiv application and infrastructure.

Reporting Relationship: Sr. Engineering Manager, SRE, Digital Business

Business/Channel/Function: Digital


Experience

• Overall 7+ year of experience in Software industry.

• Expert in AWS services or equivalent cloud services.

• 3+ year in Backend engineering and Automation on AWS cloud environment.

• 3+ year of experience in distribute tech like Redis, Mongodb, Cassandra, DynamoDb, Kafka, Elastic Search, CDN etc.

• 3+ years of experience in Rest API and Web

• Good to have OTT domain knowledge

• Advanced Terraform syntax and GitLab CI/CD configuration, pipelines, jobs

• Prometheus, Thanos, and Grafana: service catalog metrics and recording rules for alerts

• Log shipping pipelines and incident debugging visualizations


Roles & Responsibility

1. Identifies significant projects that result in substantial improvements in reliability, cost savings and/or revenue.

2. Identifies changes for the product architecture from the reliability, performance and availability perspectives with a data driven approach. Influences the product roadmap and works with engineering and product counterparts to influence improved resiliency and reliability of the SonyLiv product. 3. Proactively work on the efficiency and capacity planning to set clear requirements and reduce the system resources usage to make SonyLiv cheaper to run for all our customers.

4 Identify parts of the system that do not scale, provides immediate palliative measures and drives long term resolution of these incidents.

5. Identify Service Level Indicators (SLIs) that will align the team to meet the availability and latency objectives.

6. Leads initiatives and problem definition and scoping, design, and planning through epics and blueprints.

7. Deep domain knowledge and radiation that knowledge through recorded demos, technical presentations, discussions, and incident review Perform and run blameless RCAs on incidents and outages aggressively looking for answers that will prevent the incident from ever happening again.

8. For stable counterpart assignments, maintain awareness and actively influence stage group plans and priorities through participation in stage group meetings and async discussions. Act as a champion for reliability.
