Job Description- Sales
Designation: Regional Sales Manager
Location: Kolkata
Experience- 8 to 10 years of relevant work experience in Sales at Life sciences/Biotech product manufacturing companies
Qualification- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related field
Role
- To plan business orders and revenue for assigned territory, through his network and relationships and his sales team.
- To build, develop and engage sales team members. To deepen relationships with existing accounts by way of need planning and scoping. To make connections and network with contacts in new prospective accounts across verticals – Pharmaceuticals, Government Institutes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement regional sales strategies in alignment with the company’s overall business goals.
- Work closely with the national sales team and senior management to adapt the company's sales approach for the region, based on market trends, competition, and customer feedback.
- Monitor and adjust sales strategies based on real-time market data and performance indicators.
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of sales representatives, ensuring they meet their individual and team sales targets.
- Organize regular training sessions and workshops to improve the skills and knowledge of the sales team, particularly on product details, industry regulations, and sales techniques.
- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to the team, helping them refine their approach and stay motivated.
- Build and nurture strong relationships with key customers, including hospitals, clinics, research institutions, and biotech companies.
- Ensure high customer satisfaction by providing excellent after-sales service, addressing customer queries, and resolving issues quickly.
- Act as the main point of contact for strategic accounts within the region, ensuring ongoing engagement and loyalty.
- Conduct market research to identify potential customers, unmet needs, and emerging trends in the biotech space.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes, product innovations, and market dynamics that could impact sales opportunities.
- Proactively seek out new business opportunities, partnerships, and distribution channels in the region.
- Track sales performance and ensure the achievement of sales targets and KPIs, including revenue growth, market share, and new client acquisition.
- Provide regular sales reports and forecasts to senior management, detailing performance against targets, market insights, and any potential challenges.
- Monitor competitors’ activities and market share, and use insights to adjust tactics for regional growth.
- Work closely with the marketing team to ensure alignment on promotional campaigns, product launches, and regional market initiatives.
- Provide feedback on the effectiveness of marketing materials and strategies within the region, making recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with the product management team to ensure that the products meet the needs of the region's healthcare professionals and customers.
- Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international regulations governing the sale and distribution of biotech products.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and policies, particularly around medical device, pharma, or diagnostic product guidelines.
- Ensure that all sales activities in the region are aligned with company policies, ethical standards, and legal requirements.
- Manage the regional sales budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to achieve sales targets.
- Optimize the allocation of marketing funds, promotional expenses, and travel budgets to support the sales team.
- Collaborate with internal departments such as finance, operations, customer service, and R&D to ensure smooth execution of the sales plan.
- Act as a liaison between the sales team and other company functions to ensure that customer feedback, product issues, and market insights are communicated effectively.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows, enhancing the company’s presence in the region.
- Support the planning and execution of regional seminars, workshops, and customer-focused events to boost brand awareness and sales.
- Develop and manage budgets for the region, ensuring that resources (staff, materials, promotional items, etc.) are allocated efficiently.
- Make recommendations for investment in sales tools, software, or training programs to improve team performance.
- Product Expertise: Develop advanced-level skills with products from Channel partners like Agilent, Syngene, Nuaire, AES, GESIM, 10x Genomics, MGI, Seahorse etc. Stay informed about new assays and technologies.
