Job Summary


We are seeking a skilled GIS Web Application Front-End Developer to join our dynamic team. You will be responsible for creating intuitive and visually appealing web applications focused on geographic information systems (GIS). The ideal candidate will have experience in front-end development with a strong focus on spatial data visualization and map-based solutions.


Key Responsibilities


  • Develop interactive web applications using modern front-end technologies to deliver engaging GIS solutions.
  • Collaborate with back-end developers, GIS analysts, and design teams to integrate mapping services and spatial data into the applications.
  • Create user-friendly interfaces that enable seamless interaction with geospatial data and map visualizations.
  • Implement responsive design and ensure cross-browser compatibility.
  • Read and write spatial data from/to databases with user inputs and queries.
  • Optimize applications for speed and scalability.
  • Integrate GIS data and services using APIs such as ArcGIS, OpenLayers, Leaflet, or Mapbox.
  • Ensure the applications adhere to best practices in terms of UX/UI and accessibility.
  • Maintain and improve existing GIS web applications by troubleshooting and addressing performance issues.
  • Stay updated with emerging GIS technologies, front-end development trends, and web standards.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geography, GIS, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in front-end development (5+ years for mid-level / 8+ years for senior level), especially in GIS-related applications.
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Strong experience working with JavaScript libraries for mapping (e.g., Leaflet, OpenLayers, Mapbox GL, D3.js) and GIS databases (Oracle/PostGIS).
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, GeoJSON, KML, and WMS/WFS standards.
  • Experience with responsive design frameworks such as Bootstrap or Material-UI.
  • Knowledge of ESRI platforms is required.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment and manage time effectively.


Nice-to-Have Skills


  • Experience with back-end technologies such as Node.js, Python (Django).
  • Knowledge of GIS software like ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or GeoServer.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of cloud-based GIS services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
