The Role: As a Tools Programmer (Unreal) at LightFury, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality, efficient, and scalable tools for our AAA games using Unreal Engine. You will work closely with the programming team, designers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement tools that meet the project's artistic and technical requirements.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain high-quality, efficient, and scalable tools for our AAA games using Unreal Engine.
  • Collaborate with the programming team to develop and implement tools, including level editors, asset importers, and data visualization tools.
  • Work with the design team to develop and implement tools that meet their needs, including game mechanics, AI, and physics.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize tool-related issues and performance bottlenecks.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for tools and pipelines.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure that tools meet the needs of the game and are delivered on time.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies in game development and Unreal Engine.


Unreal Engine Expertise:

  • In-depth knowledge of Unreal Engine architecture, including the rendering pipeline, physics engine, and animation system.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Unreal Engine's C++ API.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine's Blueprints visual scripting system.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine's tools and features, including the Material Editor, Animation Blueprint, and Physics Asset Editor.


Tools Development Expertise:

  • Experience with developing and maintaining high-quality, efficient, and scalable tools for game development.
  • Knowledge of software development principles, including design patterns, testing, and version control.
  • Familiarity with game development pipelines and tools, including Perforce and Git.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.
  • Proficiency in C++ and object-oriented programming.
  • Experience with game engines, including Unreal Engine.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.


Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with multi-threading and parallel processing.
  • Knowledge of computer graphics, including 3D math and rendering techniques.
  • Experience with physics engines, including PhysX and Havok.
  • Familiarity with game development pipelines and tools, including Perforce and Git.
