To manage the patent team and effectively maintain BBL’s patent portfolioRoles & ResponsibilitiesManaging Patent Filing, Drafting, Prosecution and MaintenanceMaintaining patent portfolio and regular interaction with R&D team for IPR strategiesProviding IP clearances to R&D/ Commercial/ Non-commercial teamsReviewing patent – non-patent literature searches, amino acid/nucleotide sequence based patent and non-patent literature searches in various databasesReviewing and analysing patent claims to prepare IP opinion and report for freedom-to-operate, infringement, validity, and prior art studiesReviewing and drafting of patent applications and filing the same in various jurisdictions.Reviewing the patent examination report or office actions and preparing response of the sameSupport to IP due diligence effort for product in- licensing opportunitiesHandling pre-grant/post-grant patent opposition and patent litigation in various jurisdictionsInteraction with external attorneys for Patent Filing, Drafting, Prosecution and Maintenance in different jurisdictions.Responding to stakeholders on Patent Filing, Prosecution, and IP related queriesIP Review of biological drug products/process and identification of potential launch timelines.Periodically strategizing and planning IP budgetsAssist cross- functional teams and other stakeholders in understanding relevant third-party IP rightsEffectively handling the patent prosecution teamSkills Required:OrganizationalUnderstandingOrganization Strategy & PerformanceOrganization Operating Model & Internal Processes/SystemsIndustry & Competitive AwarenessPharma & Biologics/Biopharma sector awarenessCompetitive AwarenessProduct KnowledgeProduct Portfolio & SpecificationsPatent Landscape Awareness & NavigationPatent research MethodologyIPR Tools/Software ExpertiseCompetition Evaluation & LandscapingProsecution & LitigationPatent Prosecution/FilingData Management & ReportingInsightful ReportingData ManagementPartnerships & AdvisoryStrategic Partner ManagementPatentability AdvisoryProject ManagementProject PlanningDelivery ExcellenceRequired Qualifications and ExperienceHighly Preferred:Worked with BananaIP counsels current/pastQualificationsEducation Description: PhD (Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Biochemistry) with LLB from a reputed educational institution.Experience15-22 yearsExcellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills13-15 years’ experience, majority working in the patent prosecution team of in-house IPR department or in a patent law firm.CertificationsCertification or Diploma in Patent Law preferredQualification as an Indian patent agent is preferred.
