Key Responsibilities:

  • Level Design: Create compelling and balanced Match-3 levels that are both fun and challenging for players. Work on the pacing, difficulty curve, and new gameplay mechanics to maintain player engagement.
  • Data-Driven Design: Collaborate with data analysts to use in-game metrics such as retention, engagement, and progression data to inform design decisions and improve overall player experience.
  • Narrative Design: Assist in developing and integrating narrative elements that enhance the game's storyline, character development, and world-building, ensuring a cohesive and immersive experience.
  • Game Mechanics: Help design and balance in-game mechanics like power-ups, obstacles, and game events. Ensure they align with the game’s progression and monetisation strategy.
  • Iteration and Testing: Participate in playtests, collect feedback, and iterate on game content to optimize gameplay and player satisfaction.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with developers, artists, and QA to ensure smooth implementation of design features and maintain high-quality standards.

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of experience in game design, preferably with exposure to mobile or Match-3 games.
  • A solid understanding of Match-3 mechanics and how level progression impacts player retention.
  • Strong skills in data analysis to evaluate in-game performance and make informed design decisions.
  • Experience with narrative design, world-building, and character development is a bonus.
  • Proficiency with design tools (e.g., Unity, Level Editors, Photoshop) and basic understanding of scripting or game logic.
  • Creative thinking with the ability to adapt and innovate within the Match-3 genre.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
  • A passion for games, with a keen interest in player psychology, game loops, and user experience.

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience working on live-ops or seasonal in-game events.
  • Familiarity with A/B testing and data analysis tools like Tableau or Excel.
  • Knowledge of the Octalysis framework or other gamification techniques.
