JD - Accounts Manager

The Accounts Manager to oversee financial operations specific to the publication unit, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. The role involves managing day-to-day accounting tasks, financial analysis, and contributing to the financial health of the department while ensuring the expenses, revenues, and budgets are aligned with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Management:
  • Oversee the financial operations ,including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Prepare financial reports and statements, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Monitor departmental budgets and provide variance analysis on actual vs. forecast performance.
  1. Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Assist in preparing annual budgets
  • Collaborate with editorial and marketing teams to forecast sales, revenues, and production costs.
  • Monitor monthly performance against budgets and provide recommendations to department heads.
  1. Compliance and Audit:
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal financial policies.
  • Liaise with auditors for internal and external audits, providing required documentation and explanations.
  1. Vendor and Expense Management:
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and service providers, ensuring invoices are processed and paid on time.
  • Ensure cost control measures are in place to minimize unnecessary expenses and optimize operational efficiency.
  1. Reporting and Analysis:
  • Generate periodic financial reports for senior management, providing insights into financial performance, cash flow, and cost optimization.
  1. Revenue Management:
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to maximize profitability through accurate revenue tracking.
  1. Team Collaboration:
  • Provide financial guidance and support to department staff as needed.
  1. System and Process Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities to enhance accounting systems, processes, and reporting efficiency.
  • Implement improvements to ensure accurate financial data and streamlined workflows.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or professional qualifications such as CA/CPA preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably in a publishing or media environment.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, or other ERP systems).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
