Position Summary

Architect with software & technology solutions applications, built on DFS’s technology platforms and product offerings, for worldwide customers. This role provides direction and leadership for driving architectural decisions for all new and existing products within the EVC space including new high powered DC charging stations. Main objectives are to interface with all functional teams during product design, prototype testing, design change implementation, customer-specific builds, and product documentation.


Key Responsibilities

Plan, perform and document unit tests.

Analyze test results and present findings at technical design reviews to ensure design robustness, efficiency, future maintainability, and supportability.

Proactively evaluate third party and open-source software modules  Support software QA, help to resolve site deployment issues.

Performance testing of prototypes in laboratory and environmental simulations to diagnose and resolve engineering issues.

Work with agency engineers to ensure compliance with certifying agency standards.

Coordinate and assist with resolution of complex service and vehicle interoperability issues.

Work closely with solutions team to make firmware modifications to existing platforms to ensure compliancy to all electric vehicle charging standards and protocols such as OCPP and ISO 15118. Support Level 3 technical claims via remote and onsite support as necessary.


Candidate Experience and Qualifications

BE, BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering/ BSc in Software Engineering

Minimum 10-15 years of software development experience

Minimum 5 years experience as lead architect

Willingness to use a hands-on approach for prototyping and testing

Experience with embedded Linux OS

Experience with agile and scrum principles, values, and processes

Experience with PLC, I2C, SPI

Experience TCP/IP Cyber security

Experience with C++ or C, Python

Experience with cloud platforms and connectivity

Experience with industrial certifications and standards

Understands the need for solid documentation as essential to the design process and has necessary skillset to produce engineering documents (product specs, design presentations, test plans, test reports)

The successful candidate will have minimum five years of product software architecture with an emphasis on solution architecture with complex industrial applications

The successful candidate will have minimum three years of embedded product development experience.

Proven leadership and technical skills

Thorough understanding of the software development cycle, software architecture and product development.

Effective interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.

Organization, time management, and prioritization skills.

Public speaking/presentation skills.

Proficient in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.


Preferred Knowledge/Experience :-

Lead the design, implement and test embedded software components and systems used in the global EV charging industry

Develop a Technology Roadmap for EVC platforms and solutions.

Develop and architectural plan for transforming the EVC platforms and solutions over time to simplify the architecture and add functionality.

Develop effective architectural presentations, product design documentation and proofs-of-concepts to drive architectural standards into the EVC products.

Maintain thorough understanding of the EVC marketplace and what factors influence the market and customer decisions related to product features and functionality

Experience with OCPP and ISO 15118

Experience with MQTT, Git


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience developing and testing electronic components for electric vehicle charging.

Experience with Payment solutions and systems.

Experience with Confluence, Jira, and both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.


Essential Functions:

Ability to find bottlenecks and thresholds in existing code with the help of automation tools.

Ability to quickly gain domain knowledge, focus on prioritizing opportunities for test automation and build stable and repeatable automation frameworks and scripts.

Ability to meet deadlines; accomplish work in order of priority.

Ability to negotiate conflict and maintain constructive working relationships with people at all levels of an organization (both inside and outside the company).

Ability to work with senior leaders and stakeholders across multiple functions to perform executive presentations and product discussions.
