Job Title: Database Architect

Job Summary: As a Database Architect, you will be responsible for designing, implementing,

and maintaining the databases that support the organization's information systems and

applications. You will work closely with IT teams, management, and end-users to ensure the

database systems meet business requirements and performance goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Database Design and Development:

o Design and create database structures that support the organization's data storage

and management needs.

o Develop database schemas, tables, procedures, and permissions.

o Optimize database systems for performance efficiency.

2. Database Administration:

o Monitor and maintain database health and security.

o Ensure data integrity, availability, and reliability.

o Perform regular backups and disaster recovery operations.

3. Database Integration and Migration:

o Integrate new systems and applications with existing database infrastructure.

o Plan and execute database migrations and upgrades.

4. Performance Tuning and Optimization:

o Identify and resolve database performance issues, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies.

o Implement best practices for database security and scalability.

5. Data Management and Governance:

o Define data standards and guidelines.

o Establish policies and procedures for data access and usage.

o Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

6. Collaboration and Support:

o Work closely with development teams to support application design and

development.

o Provide technical guidance and support to database administrators and developers.

o Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and address database requirements.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

 Proven experience as a Database Architect, Database Developer, or in a similar role.

 In-depth knowledge of database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL,

Oracle, SQL Server).

 Hands-on experience with database design, development, and implementation.

 Proficiency in SQL and database querying.

 Strong understanding of database security, backup, and recovery.

 Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

 Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 Good communication and interpersonal skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

 Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

 Certification in database administration or architecture (e.g., Oracle Certified

Professional).

 Experience with cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).

 Knowledge of big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).

Work Environment:

 Typically office-based, but may involve remote work options.

 Fast-paced and collaborative environment with cross-functional teams.

 Occasional on-call duty may be required for database maintenance and support.

Career Path: Database Architects may advance to senior or managerial roles, such as Chief

Data Officer (CDO) or IT Director, depending on experience and career progression.
