What would you be doing?

As an entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) Beauty Commerce at Airblack, you will play a pivotal role in managing a wide array of product categories, with a specific emphasis on driving growth and innovation. Working in tandem with cross-functional teams spanning marketing, merchandising, and finance, you will craft and execute strategic plans tailored to the unique needs and aspirations of Airblack's diverse customer base, thereby contributing significantly to the company's overarching objectives and market leadership. This role is ideal for a seasoned entrepreneur with experience in building e-commerce beauty startups or leading similar initiatives at other startups. Your entrepreneurial mindset and expertise in marketplaces like Amazon and Flipkart will be crucial in shaping Airblack's B2B beauty commerce vertical.


Key Responsibilities:

  • P&L Ownership: Take full ownership of the Profit and Loss (P&L) statement for the category, including revenue forecasting, cost management, and profitability analysis.
  • Market Insights & Data Analysis: Utilize market insights and data analysis to design compelling marketing campaigns that resonate with our target audience and drive sales.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of 3-5 talented individuals to execute campaign strategies, manage conversion funnels, and optimize performance metrics.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Forge strategic partnerships with brands and negotiate favorable terms to enhance the category assortment and drive customer acquisition.
  • Market Positioning & Brand Visibility: Develop and implement strategies to strengthen our market position, enhance brand visibility, and drive awareness through effective campaign execution and brand launches.
  • Product Sourcing & Supplier Management: Source new products and suppliers, negotiate pricing and terms, and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure optimal product quality and availability.
  • Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor category performance, sales metrics, and inventory levels, and make data-driven decisions to optimize product assortment and maximize profitability.
  • Customer Feedback Analysis: Analyze customer feedback, reviews, and ratings to identify areas for improvement and enhance product offerings and customer satisfaction.


What makes you a suitable candidate?

  • Entrepreneurial Experience: Proven track record of building an e-commerce beauty segment or leading similar initiatives at other startups.
  • E-commerce Expertise: In-depth knowledge of marketplaces like Amazon and Flipkart.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of work experience in a category manager role, preferably within the beauty industry or a related consumer goods sector.
  • Education: MBA from a Tier 1 or Tier 2 institute, or equivalent advanced degree, will be an added advantage.
  • Supply Chain Management: Prior experience in supply chain management and successfully scaling a category within a B2C model.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, solving ambiguous problems and driving outcomes. Demonstrated ability to solve problems on the ground.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
