Scope of Work

  • Candidate will be responsible for handling the transmissions design.
  • Customer for the transmissions are Europe and Brazil.
  • These transmissions are produced in India and sent to vehicle manufacturing plants at Germany and Brazil.
  • All the design changes needed from customers should be incorporated and release to be made.
  • Central R&D is located in Germany and regular interactions are needed to align on the design changes
  • Need to support production line for any technical concerns

Technical Knowledge

  • Transmission parts and its function in detail
  • Transmission assembly & disassembly procedure
  • Vehicle performance calculation due to transmission ratios and interpretation of results
  • Gears, Shaft, Synchros & Shifting system Design calculations for Strength & Life
  • Interaction with Suppliers for Proprietary parts development meeting life (bearings, oil seals)
  • Tolerance Stack up Analysis expertise for Transmission Layouts
  • Perform DFMEA for new designs and all design modifications, mandate
  • Able to handle transmission design software will be added advantage
  • Supplier clarifications for development of New parts / Existing parts
  • Defining DVP for transmission components on Rig / vehicle level
  • Coordination with testing colleagues and supporting for planned accomplishments
  • Good understanding of drawings and the important parameters (GDnT, Process and Standards)
  • Knowledge in PLM and Release process according to internal requirements
  • BOM preparation for transmission with variants
  • Field failure root cause analysis and systematic approach for arriving solution & Implementation
  • Statistical data analysis based on field failure reports from Warranty Team
  • Basic knowledge on manufacturing process, materials used & metrology of transmission parts
  • New parts development with supplier, series and by proto methods
  • Technical support to production team resolving assembly issues
  • Field visits & Dealer visits to solve customer concerns on need basis
  • Generation, Design Release & Implementation of cost reduction ideas

  • Smooth interaction with internal & external stake holders for accomplishments without conflicts
  • Able to handle the team member with role clarity, guiding and taking decisions appropriately
  • Seek management attention when in trouble with clear problem description
  • Good and clear communication skills for interaction with all levels
  • Fluent English language (technical)
  • High intercultural sensitivity and flexibility
  • Knows to work with MS OFFICE
  • German speaking skill will be an added advantage
  • Willing to visit / stay in Germany & Brazil on temporary period and work with Daimler colleagues
