Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Head of Direct Taxation to lead and oversee all direct tax-related functions for the organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring tax compliance, developing tax strategies, handling tax litigation, and optimizing tax efficiency. This role requires deep expertise in Indian tax laws, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work closely with senior leadership and regulatory authorities.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance & Regulatory Management:

  • Ensure full compliance with direct tax laws and regulations, including corporate tax, transfer pricing, and international taxation.
  • Manage the timely and accurate filing of income tax returns, advance tax computations, TDS compliance, and tax audits.
  • Oversee tax assessments, appeals, and litigations, working closely with legal and regulatory authorities.
  • Monitor and interpret changes in tax laws and their impact on the organization, ensuring necessary amendments in policies and procedures.

Tax Planning & Strategy:

  • Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies to optimize the company's direct tax liabilities while ensuring compliance.
  • Conduct detailed tax impact analysis for business transactions, acquisitions, mergers, and expansions.
  • Advise senior management on tax risks, mitigation strategies, and financial implications of business decisions.

Litigation & Advisory:

  • Represent the company in tax assessments, scrutiny cases, and appeals before tax authorities.
  • Collaborate with external consultants, legal advisors, and auditors to handle complex tax matters.
  • Draft responses and provide clarifications on notices issued by tax authorities.

Internal Controls & Team Leadership:

  • Establish and maintain strong internal tax controls to prevent non-compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Work closely with Finance, Legal, and Accounting teams to ensure accurate tax reporting and alignment with business objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of taxation professionals, ensuring knowledge sharing and skill development.

Key Requirements:

CA Qualified (Mandatory) with 8-20 years of experience in direct taxation.

Strong expertise in corporate tax, international taxation, transfer pricing, and tax litigation.

Proven experience in handling tax audits, assessments, and appeals with regulatory authorities.

In-depth knowledge of Indian tax laws, GST, FEMA, and cross-border tax implications.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Strong leadership abilities with a track record of leading tax teams and cross-functional collaboration.

Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and handle multiple priorities effectively.
