Role Purpose

In Data Applications Engineer role, you'll play a pivotal role in designing and building end-to-end data products, from robust backend pipelines to intuitive data products and applications. Your work will empower key business decisions and deliver value to our users


Data Pipeline ETL Development & Monitoring:

  • End-to-End development of data products, user facing data applications, APIs, and tools
  • A hybrid role focusing specifically on building and operationalizing data-driven applications or platforms
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design scalable data models and architectures.
  • Optimize data workflows and front-end performance for speed and reliability.
  • Works on transforming raw data into usable formats and designing analytics-ready datasets.

Human Capital Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify and seek professional development opportunities to improve leadership and technical skills pertaining to the direct line of work
  • Apply and follow MAF Retail’s Human Capital corporate policies and relevant procedures and instructions
  • Role model and ensure the application of Majid Al Futtaim Retail corporate policies and guarantee the implementation of all laws, regulations and cultural practices of the operating countries are followed and respected.
  • Practice the company values and guarantees the same is respected and followed by the department team members.


General Requirement

  • A college degree or higher in Engineering and/or Science
  • 4+ years experience in ETL and hands-on on front end development
  • Strong with SQL, Python
  • Backend API Development - Node.js, Python (Flask/Django), or Go for APIs
  • Frontend - HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • RESTful APIs or GraphQL: For communicating with back-end services
  • Quick self-learner to understand the retail process and engineering mechanism.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills with the ability to explain technical approaches and rationale of findings in easy-to-understand terms to scientists, engineering, and business developers.
  • Excellent team player


Data Engineer Specific Requirement

  • Expertise in development of ETL pipelines
  • Proficiency in Frontend Hosting, Backend APIs, Caching, Load Balancing
  • Experience in DWH concepts
  • Experience in GCP platform – Airflow, Bigquery, Cloud Run, VM’s, Firestore, Redis
  • Experience in Realtime data
  • Experience in agile software engineering cycle.
