Job Description: Head of Supply Chain Management / Head of Purchasing

Department: Supply Chain Management

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Job Type: Full-Time

Experience: Minimum 10 years (Experience in the pump industry is mandatory)

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of supply chain processes, procurement strategies

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supply Chain Strategy & Planning:

  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Optimize procurement, inventory management, and distribution processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure supply chain performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior management to define supply chain goals and ensure alignment with overall business strategies.

2. Procurement & Vendor Management:

  • Oversee the procurement of raw materials, components, and services required for pump manufacturing.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with reliable vendors and suppliers to ensure consistent quality and timely delivery.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to achieve the best pricing, quality, and service terms.
  • Identify and onboard new suppliers to expand the vendor base and mitigate supply risks.
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.

3. Inventory & Warehouse Management:

  • Ensure optimal inventory levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts.
  • Implement effective inventory control measures, including cycle counts and regular audits.
  • Supervise warehouse operations to streamline storage, picking, and dispatching processes.
  • Implement and monitor FIFO (First In, First Out) and other inventory management practices.

4. Logistics & Distribution:

  • Oversee the logistics and transportation network to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products.
  • Optimize route planning and freight management to minimize transportation costs.
  • Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations for exports.

5. Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead and mentor the supply chain team, including purchasing managers, warehouse staff, and logistics coordinators.
  • Set performance goals, provide regular feedback, and identify training and development needs.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

6. Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, quality standards, and company policies.
  • Identify potential supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee supplier audits and quality checks to maintain product integrity.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, specifically in the pump industry.
  • Proven track record of optimizing supply chain operations and reducing costs.
  • Expertise in ERP systems, procurement software, and supply chain management tools.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making abilities.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business goals into supply chain strategies.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and data analytics.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Hands-on experience with pump manufacturing processes is a plus.
