The Database Lead is responsible for overseeing the management, optimization, and security of the organization’s databases. This role involves leading a team of database administrators, engineers, and analysts to ensure database systems are highly available, performant, and secure. The Database Lead will collaborate with IT, development teams, and business stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain database solutions that support business operations and decision-making processes. The role requires expertise in database technologies, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of database architecture and performance tuning.


Location: Madhya Pradesh

Experience: Minimum of 10 years post Qualification experience with at least 3 years as a Database lead and should have proficiency in leading database management systems. Minimum two projects of Data Migration from Large IT Legacy systems to new IT systems. The submitted CV shall mandatorily mention the Data Migration projects in detail.


Responsibilities:

Database Strategy & Architecture:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of database solutions aligned with business needs and technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to create database architectures that are scalable, secure, and highly available.
  • Establish and enforce database design standards and best practices, ensuring consistency and quality across all database environments.
  • Oversee the selection and integration of new database technologies, tools, and frameworks.

Database Administration & Maintenance:

  • Manage and maintain the organization’s database environments, ensuring they are up and running efficiently.
  • Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including backups, performance tuning, and updates, to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Implement disaster recovery plans and ensure proper database replication and recovery strategies are in place.
  • Monitor database performance and resolve issues related to slow queries, deadlocks, and other system bottlenecks.

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Lead and mentor a team of database administrators and engineers, providing guidance, training, and career development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative environment and work closely with development teams to design and implement solutions that meet both business and technical needs.
  • Provide technical leadership on database best practices, troubleshooting, and advanced topics (e.g., database partitioning, clustering, high availability).
  • Manage resource allocation, prioritization of tasks, and project timelines for database-related projects.

Security & Compliance:

  • Ensure the security of all database systems by implementing access controls, encryption, and other security best practices.
  • Monitor and audit database environments to detect and respond to potential security threats or unauthorized access.
  • Ensure database systems comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Work with the security team to implement database-level security policies and access management controls.

Database Performance Tuning & Optimization:

  • Analyze database performance and proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Perform capacity planning and ensure databases can scale to meet growing demands.
  • Optimize database queries, indexing, and storage for performance improvements.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL code and database schema for maximum performance.

Database Deployment & Integration:

  • Oversee the deployment of database changes, patches, and updates, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Coordinate database migrations and integrations with other applications, data sources, and systems.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient database integration with cloud platforms, analytics systems, and data warehouses.

Database Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Implement monitoring tools to continuously track the health, performance, and availability of databases.
  • Create and maintain dashboards and reports to track key database performance metrics (e.g., uptime, query performance, resource usage).
  • Provide regular status reports to leadership, detailing system performance, issues, and resolution efforts.

Documentation & Best Practices:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for database systems, configurations, and procedures.
  • Develop and enforce database management policies and best practices, ensuring consistency across all environments.
  • Document troubleshooting procedures, common issues, and solutions to support internal knowledge sharing.

Collaboration with Business Teams:

  • Work closely with business stakeholders and decision-makers to understand database requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Support business intelligence and analytics teams by ensuring databases are optimized for data extraction and reporting needs.
  • Assist in the development of database models and reporting systems for business insights.

 

Skills Required:

·       Proficiency in SQL and other database query languages.

·       Strong knowledge of database backup, recovery, replication, and security techniques.

·       Expertise in database performance optimization and troubleshooting.

·       Strong experience with database migration and integration strategies.

·       Familiarity with database automation and DevOps practices for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD).

·       Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

·       Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities.

 

Qualification:

·       Minimum BE/ B.Tech/ MCA/M.Tech / MSc. in Computer Science/ Electronic & Communication Engineering /IT.

·       The resource should have a minimum of 10 years post Qualification experience with at least 3 years as a Database lead and should have proficiency in leading database management systems.

·       Minimum two projects of Data Migration from Large IT Legacy systems to new IT systems. The submitted CV shall mandatorily mention the Data Migration projects in detail.

·       The resource should have experience in database design and architecture, database administration, configuration, upgradation, performance tuning, designing database security protocols, monitor database performance, troubleshooting, data migration, data replication, DR drills, etc. for the database proposed by the SI.

·       The resource should have relevant DBA certification in database and administration like - Database Administrator, or similar credentials are also desired.

·       Fluency in English and Hindi (Speaking, reading & writing).
