We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Engineering to lead our technology team in the Dhani stocks broking area. As the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of innovative and efficient technology solutions to support our brokerage operations. You will play a pivotal role in driving technological excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, and ensuring the scalability and reliability of our trading platforms. This role will be directly reporting to Dhani, Chief Technology Officer.


Must-Have Skills:

  • Low Latency Platforms: Proven experience in designing and implementing low-latency trading platforms, with a deep understanding of latency optimization techniques, network protocols, and hardware acceleration technologies.
  • Algorithmic Trading: In-depth knowledge of algorithmic trading strategies, quantitative modeling techniques, and execution algorithms used in equities, options, futures, and other financial instruments. Hands-on experience with building and optimizing algorithmic trading systems for optimal performance and profitability.
  • Colocation (Colo) Setup Infrastructure: Demonstrated expertise in setting up and managing colocation facilities for proximity hosting, market data distribution, and order execution services. Familiarity with co-location best practices, data center architecture, and network connectivity options to minimize latency and maximize trading efficiency.
  • Financial Market Microstructure: Strong understanding of financial market microstructure, including order book dynamics, liquidity provision, market impact modeling, and regulatory requirements governing electronic trading venues
  • Risk Management and Compliance: Proficiency in implementing risk management controls, pre-trade risk checks, and compliance monitoring systems to mitigate operational risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and safeguard against market abuse and unauthorized trading activities.
  • Market Data Handling: Expertise in handling market data feeds from various exchanges and data providers, including direct feeds, consolidated feeds, and proprietary data formats. Experience with market data normalization, compression, and distribution mechanisms to optimize bandwidth utilization and reduce latency.
  • Real-Time Analytics: Proficient in developing real-time analytics and monitoring tools for performance analysis, trade surveillance, and risk management purposes. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets, identify trading opportunities, and make data-driven decisions in fast-paced market environments.

These must-have skills are critical for success in the role of Head of Engineering within the stocks broking area, enabling the candidate to drive technological innovation, optimize trading infrastructure, and deliver competitive advantages in the increasingly competitive and dynamic financial markets.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the engineering team, aligning technology initiatives with business objectives and market trends in the stocks broking domain.
  2. Technology Roadmap: Develop and execute a comprehensive technology roadmap, prioritizing projects and initiatives to enhance our brokerage platforms, optimize trading workflows, and improve overall system performance.
  3. Team Management: Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment. Set clear goals and objectives, and provide guidance and support to enable team members to achieve their full potential.
  4. Product Development: Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable and resilient trading systems, including order management systems (OMS), execution platforms, risk management tools, and reporting/analytics solutions.
  5. Technical Excellence: Drive technological innovation and best practices across the organization, ensuring the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, robust architecture patterns, and efficient software development methodologies.
  6. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, operations, compliance, and finance, to understand business requirements, prioritize initiatives, and deliver high-quality solutions that meet customer needs and regulatory standards.
  7. Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and external partners, negotiating contracts and agreements to ensure optimal performance and value for the organization.
  8. Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor the performance, availability, and reliability of trading systems, conducting regular performance reviews and optimization efforts to drive continuous improvement.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in a senior leadership role within the financial services industry, with a focus on stocks broking, trading technology, or capital markets.
  • Strong technical background in software engineering, with expertise in building high-performance, low-latency trading systems using modern programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python).
  • Deep understanding of financial markets, trading protocols, order types, and regulatory requirements governing brokerage operations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams, influence stakeholders, and drive consensus across multiple departments.
  • Solid track record of successfully managing complex technology projects from inception to delivery, within budget and timeline constraints.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices architecture, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a passion for innovation and continuous learning in the rapidly evolving field of financial technology (FinTech).
