Summary/Objective:

House of Spices (India) is seeking a Senior Data Engineer who will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing data solutions that drive our data-driven decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, with extensive experience in T-SQL, Azure Data Services, Data Warehousing, and Data Modelling. They will have deep expertise in ensuring efficient data processing and transformation across the enterprise to build scalable and efficient data solutions. This role involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable data solutions that meet business needs. The candidate will work in a dynamic environment, where they will play a key role in shaping our data infrastructure and strategy.


Essential Functions


Data Architecture & Design:

Architect and implement robust data solutions that address complex business challenges.

Develop and optimize logical and physical data models to ensure data integrity, scalability, and performance.


ETL/ELT Development:

Design, build, and manage ETL/ELT processes using T-SQL, Azure Data Factory, and other Azure data services.

Optimize data pipelines for performance, reliability, and scalability.


Azure Data Engineering:

Utilize Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Synapse Analytics to build and maintain advanced data pipelines.

Implement and manage data orchestration and workflow automation using Azure Logic Apps.


Data Warehousing:

Design and develop data warehousing solutions tailored to business intelligence and reporting needs.

Ensure data warehouses are optimized for fast query performance and seamless data retrieval.


Advanced Data Processing:

Leverage Azure Databricks for large-scale data processing, real-time analytics, and machine learning integration.

Implement and manage data lakes using Azure Data Lake Storage to support both structured and unstructured data.


Data Governance & Quality:

Establish and enforce data governance policies to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.

Develop and implement data quality processes to maintain high standards of data integrity.


Collaboration & Communication:

Partner with BI developers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate data requirements into technical solutions.

Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior data engineers and cross-functional teams.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will be an Individual Contributor role with no direct reports. Nevertheless, the individual would be expected to share knowledge/ideas/best practices and provide training to team members and business users.


Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday to Friday, 2.00 pm to 10.30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
