“The Azure Cloud Spend Manager is an experienced FinOps Specialist, who will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and managing the monthly spending on Azure cloud services. This role requires a strategic mindset and strong analytical skills to ensure that our cloud resources are utilized efficiently and cost-effectively.


The successful candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in building show-back models for individual components, resource groups, and composite products. Both forward-looking models (based on projected usage) and rearward-looking (based on actual usage) models are required, along with continuous adjustment of the forward-looking models to better match the actuals. Models should include both raw spending and derivative values such as cost per operation and changes over time. The models must be applicable to existing and newly proposed systems.


In addition to the accounting capabilities, the successful candidate must have enough technical expertise in the building of cloud applications to interact with engineering teams to build, maintain, and validate application portfolio models. The successful candidate will take responsibility for defining the cost management strategy globally, interacting with engineering teams across a highly distributed engineering organization located in the United States, India (Hyderabad), and LATAM (Argentina, Venezuela, and other countries), and so the ability to work and manage across geographies and teams is required.


Key Responsibilities:

• Cost Management: Monitor, project, and analyze monthly Azure spending, identifying trends and areas for cost optimization.

• Budgeting: Collaborate with finance and IT teams to develop and manage cloud budgets, ensuring alignment with overall company goals.

• Reporting: Create and present monthly reports on cloud expenditure (actual and projected), providing insights and recommendations to senior management.

• Optimization Strategies: Develop and implement strategies to reduce unnecessary spending, such as rightsizing resources, automatic scaling, technology selection, and optimizing usage.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with other SRE members, development teams, and DevOps teams to educate and advise on best practices for cost management in Azure.

• Tools & Technologies: Utilize Azure Cost Management tools and other financial management platforms to track and analyze costs.

• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on Azure pricing changes, new services, and best practices in cloud cost management.

• Mentoring and Talent Engagement. Work to enhance the skills and capabilities of existing and newly hired staff.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 4+ years of experience in cost modeling and management for cloud environments, ideally Azure.

• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of Azure cost management and billing capabilities.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field is desired.

• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, and drive organizational change.

• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.

• Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and technologies.
