Position Overview


Join us in navigating the currents of commerce as a Technical Writer at Swym. You'll play a pivotal role in supporting our e-commerce merchants' swim toward success.


Key responsibilities


  • Simplification and Documentation: Grasp, simplify, and document complex ideas and processes, ensuring clear communication from the end-user's perspective.
  • Content Creation: Prepare a variety of instructional materials including product manuals with screenshots, tutorials, help documents, how-tos, playbooks, and video explainers.
  • Content Review and Improvement: Review existing and potential content, identifying opportunities for improvement and enhancement.
  • Internal Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for internal teams, such as the Support Desk, to ensure clear and consistent communication.
  • Collaboration Across Teams: Work closely with internal and external teams to translate complex or technical information into easy-to-understand language for diverse non-technical audiences, including Merchants, Partners, and internal staff.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis to support accurate and thorough documentation.
  • Editing and Proofreading: Edit and proofread documentation created by other technical writers, ensuring continuity of style and consistency in content.
  • Technical Terminology Management: Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and related documentation.
  • Case Studies and Synopsis: Prepare draft case studies and one-page synopsis as needed.
  • Knowledge Transfer Facilitation: Organize and facilitate knowledge transfer sessions and workshops to ensure team-wide understanding.
  • Documentation Updates: Manage updates and revisions to technical literature, ensuring all documentation is current and accurate.
  • Proficiency in Word Press would be a plus.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in journalism, communications, or Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or other related disciplines.
  • Two or more years of experience as an effective technical writer  for various audiences.
  • Good working knowledge of Google Docs, publishing web pages (including layout and design), Confluence Docs, preparing videos on Loom etc.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Experience in working with engineers to refine content, and create visuals, video clips and diagrams for technical support content.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and deliver on tight deadlines.
  • Flexible in terms of work hours to meet business objectives.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Capable of quickly understanding products/ features/ processes and other complex subject matter. 
  • Capable of working through a remote/ hybrid/ regular on-site  work environment.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts through coherent written documentation.
