Role Overview: As a Hardware Design Engineer at MapmyIndia, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and optimizing hardware components for our advanced automotive and geospatial products. You will be responsible for ensuring that the hardware meets all required standards and performance criteria, from initial concept through to final qualification. This position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including software, mechanical, and system engineers, to deliver high-quality, reliable, and cost-effective hardware solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hardware Design & Development: Design and develop hardware schematics, Bill of Materials (BOM), and PCB layouts, ensuring alignment with the defined hardware and mechanical architectures, and compliance with all applicable external requirements.
  • Lifecycle Management: Oversee the full hardware development lifecycle, from initial bring-up to troubleshooting, culminating in achieving a qualified and reliable product status.
  • Design Reviews: Take part in comprehensive design reviews, focusing on the scope of electronic design, ensuring adherence to best practices and design standards.
  • Robust Design Assurance: Ensure robust hardware designs through worst-case scenario calculations, tailored to the defined mission profiles and environmental conditions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Business teams to understand their requirements, project milestones, and ensure technology relevance in hardware designs.
  • Risk Management: Manage the hardware Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Failure Mode/Design Failure Analysis (FM/DFA), and Worst-Case Analysis (WCA) to develop reliable and resilient design solutions.
  • Support & Integration: Provide hardware perspective and support to software teams as required, ensuring seamless integration between hardware and software components.
  • Pre-Compliance Testing & EMI/EMC Compliance: Conduct pre-compliance tests and ensure designs adhere to EMI/EMC compliance requirements to meet industry standards and avoid costly redesigns.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: B-Tech/M-Tech in Electronics Engineering or a related field.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong foundation in basic electronics and understanding of different communication protocols.
  • Design Tools Proficiency: Proficient in using PCB design tools such as Altium, or OrCAD.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze and troubleshoot hardware design issues effectively.
  • Testing Equipment Experience: Proficient in using testing equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, and Signal Generators.
  • Vehicle Communication Protocols: Familiar with vehicle communication protocols such as Ethernet, CAN-FD, RS-232, and RS-485.
  • Team Collaboration: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
