Sleuth is seeking a full-time data engineering and architecture director who will work extremely closely with the founding team to shape the future of our company. This role will be the primary point of contact for US leadership and directly manage several FTEs. Team Responsibilities:

  • The Data Engineering team will be responsible for defining, building out and maintaining a robust data architecture that ensures the collection, storage and analysis of the biopharmaceutical clinical and commercial data Sleuth’s adjacent teams collect
  • This team will work closely with the Data Aggregation team
  • The Data Aggregation team is tasked with collecting public data from various sources, while the Data Engineering team will build the database where that collected data will be stored
  • This team will also be tasked with building internal tools that make the process of collecting, managing and routing data more efficient and automated
  • Implement robust data ingestion, processing and distribution pipelines to ensure timely and accurate data availability across the organization
  • Remain current on emerging technologies and industry trends and proactively identify opportunities for new product development


Personal Responsibilities:

  • Source, assess, hire and manage all FTEs for this team
  • Lead the design and development of a scalable and simplified data architecture
  • Partner closely with Product, Data Aggregation and US-based engineers to evolve and accelerate the execution of the product roadmap
  • Perform standard day-to-day manager functions such as assigning work, managing deliverables / projects, adhering to deadlines, creating quality control processes, managing team morale, performance reviews and more
  • Set the tone for the people & corporate culture for this team - everything from team-building activities to communication norms
  • Primary point-of-contact for CEO into data engineering projects; expected to join US-team meetings remotely and provide routine status updates


Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science or an equivalent experience in software engineering
  • [Bonus] Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience working with data structures, data streaming and pipelines, and search, training and inference algorithms, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality research and products
  • 6+ years of experience leading engineering teams
  • 5+ years of experience working in the biopharmaceutical industry in a data engineering capacity
  • 5+ years of experience building containerized applications and deploying them to public or private clouds
  • 5+ years of experience in data lake / lakehouse, distributed systems and data, data virtualization and microservices
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Thrives in an environment with the autonomy to create and define processes without the confines of pre-existing structure
  • Familiar with code management / cloud database best practices
  • Innovative mindset, including ideas around deploying AI / ML to accelerate workflows while maintaining quality control


Hours of Work:

  • You will be expected to work 12:00 PM IST to 9:00 PM IST to provide for reasonable hours of collaborative work with the US team
