Layout Engineer

Roles and Responsibilities :


  1. Schematic Interpretation:
  • Accurately interpret electrical schematics to understand component placement, signal routing, and functional requirements.
  • Convert complex schematic designs into clear and concise PCB layout designs.
  1. Component Placement:
  • Place components on the PCB layout, considering electrical requirements, signal flow, and physical constraints such as space and thermal dissipation.
  • Optimize component placement to minimize signal length, and improve overall circuit performance.
  1. High-Speed Signal Routing:
  • Design high-speed signal paths (PCIe, DDR, USB, Ethernet) to ensure signal integrity, impedance control, and minimize noise.
  • Implement techniques such as differential pair routing, controlled impedance routing, and termination strategies.
  1. Length Matching and Controlled Impedance Design:
  • Perform accurate length matching and controlled impedance design to maintain signal integrity and minimize signal distortion.
  1. Power Plane Design, Decoupling Strategy, and Thermal Considerations:
  • Design effective power distribution networks (PDNs) to ensure adequate power delivery to components.
  • Implement appropriate decoupling strategies to minimize power supply noise and voltage drops.
  • Consider thermal management and heat dissipation in the PCB layout design.
  1. CAD Tool Expertise:
  • Proficiency in using PCB design tools such as Cadence Allegro and Altium Designer.
  • Utilize advanced features and techniques to optimize layout efficiency and quality.
  1. Design Rule Checks (DRC):
  • Perform thorough design rule checks to ensure compliance with electrical and mechanical constraints.
  • Identify and resolve design rule violations to maintain design integrity.
  1. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers, system architects, and mechanical engineers to ensure that the PCB layout aligns with overall system requirements.
  • Provide input on design decisions and potential design challenges.
