Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced RPG Developer with a modern approach to programming and a strong understanding of the IBM iSeries (AS/400) platform. The ideal candidate will be adept at working with both legacy and modern technologies, have exceptional analytical abilities, and demonstrate initiative in acquiring project context independently.

 

Key Responsibilities:

·      Develop, maintain, and enhance applications on the IBM iSeries using various versions of RPG (from older versions to RPGLE).

·      Navigate and manage IBM iSeries features, including green screen, IFS (Integrated File System), and multi-member DDS defined physical files.

·      Design and implement solutions that integrate with web servers, understanding the HTTP lifecycle and how web-based applications interact with backend services.

·      Apply modern programming languages such as Python, PHP, or JavaScript for new projects and system integrations.

·      Utilize source control systems (git or TD/OMS) for managing code versioning and ensuring collaborative development.

·      Troubleshoot complex system issues, analyze and optimize existing code, and contribute to system architecture discussions.

·      Operate effectively in a challenging work environment with minimal context provided and proactively seek out necessary information.

 

Qualifications:

·      Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.

·      Extensive experience working in software development teams to collaboratively deliver software products.

·      Extensive experience with IBM iSeries (AS/400) development.

·      Proficiency in various all version of RPG.

·      Solid understanding of modern web technologies and the HTTP request/response lifecycle.

Web development Experience

·      Experience with Python, PHP, or JavaScript.

·      Strong grasp of source control principles and hands-on experience with git or TD/OMS.

Demonstrated ability to work independently, gather project context, and meet high standards under minimal supervision
