Role Summary

The SuccessFactors Architect is responsible for designing, leading, and overseeing the end-to-end implementation, integration, and architecture of SAP SuccessFactors (HCM/HR) modules. The role acts as a bridge between business/HR stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that the proposed solutions align with both business requirements and technical best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with business stakeholders (HR, Compensation, Talent, Payroll, etc.) to elicit and document requirements, understand processes, and translate them into system design.
  • Define solution architecture, including module scope, data model, integration patterns, and system flows.
  • Lead the design, configuration, and deployment of SuccessFactors modules such as Employee Central (EC), Performance & Goals, Learning, Compensation, Succession & Development, Recruiting, etc.
  • Drive technical design decisions, taking into account scalability, security, performance, maintainability, and best practices.
  • Architect and manage integrations between SuccessFactors and other on-premise or cloud systems (e.g. payroll systems, ERP, identity management, legacy HR systems).
  • Provide guidance, oversight, and review of the work done by functional/technical consultants, developers, and integration teams.
  • Create architecture artifacts and technical documentation (e.g. solution design documents, interface specifications, data flows, configuration decisions).
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and HR regulatory requirements across geographies.
  • Support testing (unit, integration, regression) and resolve architectural or technical issues during implementation.
  • Participate in cutovers, deployment, post-go-live support, and stabilization phases.
  • Provide architectural governance, ensure alignment to IT and enterprise architecture standards.
  • Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and provide recommendations for performance optimization, scaling, or refactoring existing implementations.
  • Provide thought leadership and input into future HR/IT strategy, especially in areas of cloud, AI, automation, and evolving HR technologies.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong, hands-on experience (typically 8+ to 12+ years) in SAP SuccessFactors implementation and architecture roles.
  • Deep expertise in at least one core SuccessFactors module (Employee Central, Payroll, etc.) and working knowledge of multiple modules.
  • Proven track record designing and executing large-scale successFactors projects (greenfield or transformation).
  • Experience in integration technologies: APIs, middleware, SOAP/REST, middleware tools (e.g. SAP CPI, SAP PI/PO, Dell Boomi, MuleSoft, etc.).
  • Proficiency in data modeling, business rules, workflows, custom fields, and configurations in SuccessFactors.
  • Strong understanding of HR business processes (core HR, compensation, benefits, performance, talent management, recruiting, learning).
  • Technical architecture skills—knowledge of system scalability, performance, security, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills—able to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to lead teams, mentor, review deliverables, and enforce architectural standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with governance, change control, and architectural reviews.
  • Certifications in SuccessFactors (or SAP HCM) are advantageous.
