Job Description

Summary:

Accountable for development teams' backlogs and capacity. Owner of the team backlog(s), that the backlog content gets created, prioritized, groomed (understood by the team), developed, tested and delivered to production in planned schedule and with good quality. Finds ways to mitigate risks and escalates when needed. Responsible for the quality of the development output and the continuous improvement of the quality and the development team productivity. Responsible of taking feedback (retrospectives) from the team and from stakeholders into the team backlog. Ensure that the business content impacting the team is written by a business line representative, and flows into the team backlog. Manages the priority and the balance of technical and business. Responsible for the quality of the development output and the continuous improvement of the quality and the development team productivity. Define business development items into team backlog in co-operation with a business line representative

Planning and management

Manages development team backlog by ensuring the content is created, prioritized, groomed and done. Manages development risks and takes actions to mitigate them. Monitors the team backlog development progress and reports progress follow-up such as dashboards, Kanban boards etc.

Delivery responsibility

Ensures that all planned items are developed and delivered on agreed schedule. R&D delivery responsibility for the backlog item from design to development activities and all the way until final production deployment.

Development management

Ensures efficient communication throughout the development timeline (stakeholder communication, development steering, scrum of scrums, daily scrums etc.). Defines and manages the critical path for R&D delivery to help minimizing delays on various deliverables. Plans the deployment phases of developed functionality across multiple products together with release management and keeps product management informed when functionality can be enabled in production

Product manager / owner support

Supports product management to be able to set work priorities with accurate information regarding work estimates, needed special skills and to be able to recognize cross-team dependencies. Technical Product Owner is responsible for providing realistic delivery schedules for roadmapping purposes.

Team Management

Assists the development team in their daily work, helps removing possible impediments, finds ways to improve productivity and coach, mentor and develop team members.

Quality control

Makes sure that team’s defects are categorized without delay and the ones that need quick resolution are immediately taken under investigation. Monitors component/module/application/platform/system/product health which is comprised of total bug amount, severity and priorities and of technical depth. Continuously seeks ways to improve quality by defining and following-up on quality improvement actions for th component/module/application/platform/system/product when the need is recognized.

Skills & Requirements

5+ years of industry experience. Experience: Strong relevant work experience in software development, preferably from product or service development instead of customer specific development delivery Good product owner and/or project management skills Experience in modern development and design methodologies, including Lean / Agile methodologies (Kanban, Scrum, continuous delivery) Understanding of non-functional requirements like security, scalability and serviceability Experience in developing, deploying or maintaining cloud / SaaS products and services Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority. The ability to influence and work collaboratively with development teams is especially important. High motivation skills and able to resolve any conflicts inside team or between teams Practitioner level in Product Development Process (Design, Development, Implementation, Product backlog management, Team backlog management) Learner level in Product Release Management process Practitioner level in Defect Management process
