Due to the permanent appointment of one of our current Mobile Reliever's Ngā Tamariki Puāwai ō Tāmaki - Auckland Kindergarten Association is looking for a new qualified, registered ECE teacher to join the Mobile Reliever team, working across our kindergartens, starting during Term 2 2024 until Term 2 2025.
The fixed term Mobile Reliever position is part of a programme which begun in August 2022, to provide 'on the day' urgent relief assistance to our teaching teams. This position is a great opportunity for a passionate teacher who loves relief teaching, working across multiple sites, with the added bonus of guaranteed hours or is new to the Association and wanting to get their foot in the door and explore all that the AKA has to offer.
Our Mobile Relievers get to experience and learn the different and innovative uniqueness of our kindergartens and use this as an opportunity to add value and to learn along the way. They support the kindergartens when an urgent relief teacher is required and also gain a sense of belonging by having a home base (Wā Kāinga) kindergarten that they default to if not required anywhere else, providing the opportunity to build connections and feel like they are a part of a team.

We offer a competitive salary working with the Kindergarten Teachers, Head Teachers and Senior Teachers Collective Agreement (KTCA 2023-2026), so your experience is reflected in your pay rate. This position offers flexibility with days of work to suit your lifestyle, with a minimum of three days per week. Shorter working day of 6.25 hours to provide a work/life balance. Allocated non-contact time to contribute to the learning outcomes of tamariki and for your own growth and engagement in professional learning. As identified in the 2022 and 2023 Relievers survey, our relievers feel a strong sense of connection and commitment to the values and purpose of the AKA and want to be a more active part in this. Recent responses from our Head Teacher and Area Leader survey show that the Mobile Reliever programme is playing a pivotal role in achieving this. To be successful in this role there are a few things we require from you:
Be an ECE-trained teacher with a New Zealand ECE qualification (or NZQA-assessed equivalent overseas ECE qualification). Hold a current teacher practising certificate, Category 1 or 2. Available a minimum of three days per week. Hold a current First Aid certificate. Be committed to the ongoing success of the Mobile Reliever programme. Be flexible, a confident communicator and be able to use your initiative while working with our busy teams in our different kindergarten environments. Flexibility in travel is a must as you will be asked to move to different kindergartens each morning (travel time and mileage reimbursement offered). Access to a reliable means of transport and a mobile phone that you can be contactable on each morning. ICT is an important teaching tool in all of our kindergartens, so you will need to be competent and confident using technology in your teaching.
