Respiratory Technician

Role &responsibilities

• Perform pulmonaryfunction tests (PFTs) including spirometry lung volume measurementsand diffusion capacity testing.

• Instruct patients on proper breathing techniques andpositioning for optimal test results.

• Maintain and troubleshoot respiratoryequipment such as spirometers peak flow meters and gasanalyzers.

• Collaboratewith pulmonologists and respiratory therapists to coordinatetesting schedules and ensure timely completion ofprocedures.

• Preparepatients for procedures explaining the purpose risks andexpectations of the test.

• Ensure patient comfort and confidentiality throughout thetesting process addressing any concerns or questions.

• Adhere to infection controlprotocols and safety guidelines when handling equipment andperforming invasive procedures.

• Assist with patient positioning immobilization andmonitoring to minimize the risk of complications during tests andtreatments.

Preferred candidateprofile

• Diploma or Bachelors degreein Respiratory Therapy or related field

• Certification as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT)preferred

• Proficiencyin operating and troubleshooting pulmonary function testingequipment

• Excellentcommunication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interacteffectively with patients families and healthcare teammembers

• Flexibility towork rotating shifts including weekends and holidays asneeded.
