POSITIONSUMMARY

BOT VFX avisual effects services company with global clients is looking foran Associate Head ofCreative Operations as a fulltimepermanent role. The position is based out of Chennai India.
The Associate Head of Creative Operations oversees allaspects of the creative operations involved inthe delivery of VFX services to our clients. This includesprocesses tools communication flows conventions and metricsconcerned with the delivery of creative work by the creative team.The role is concerned with the effectiveness efficiency andreliability with which creative tasks are performed but is notdirectly accountable to individual show objectives (in contrast theCreative Head is accountable for the quality of all show deliveriesand meeting the clients creative vision). The scope of creativeoperations spans all creative activities between ingest and egresssand touches all operational aspects ranging from artist tools tocentral storage to IO and artist training.

At abroad level this role directly supports the objectives of the wholecreative team. More specifically the individual will work closelywith the Creative Head and the HOP to help meet their deliveryobjectives. The individual will also work closely with the CIO tohelp spec the floor hardware and software needs and to ensurepipeline development efforts are in line with the creative teamsneeds. A team of TDs runners and VFX editors will also report intothe Creative Operations Head role.

The mostimportant goal of the Creative Operations Head role is to ensurethat there are efficient processes & tools and sufficienttraining & resources within the creative team to deliver greatVFX work.

POSITIONRESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identifyweak operational areas that are inefficient broken inconsistentunderresourced or highly manual and help define processes toolsresource and conventions that address thesedeficiencies
  • Ensure the creative team isappropriately resourced for the creative goals of the company;resources include workstation hardware central storage space renderfarm needs DCC licenses plugins and other offtheshelftools
  • Ensure close coordination with the ITdepartment in developing pipeline tools that meet the needs of thevarious creative departments
  • Ensure that thepool of TDs are sufficiently addressing the ad hoc needs of thecreative teams; similarly for runners and VFX editors
  • Define gaps in artist training that affectefficiency or productivity and develop and implement trainingmodules to address this (note this is different from taskspecificcreative skill building)

REQUIREDSKILLS

  • Theindividual should have at least 10 years experience in VFX arenawith at least 5 years in a leadership role of someform
  • The individual should possess a strongprocess discipline and orientation with an engineering backgroundpreferred (though not required); s/he should be methodical andanalytical in approaching problems and developing solutions
  • The individual should possess strong judgementto discern highimpact changes from lowvalue or irrelevantchanges
  • The individual should have strongability to get work done collaboratively but decisively; s/heshould be able to handle work calmly and productively underpressure
