Job Description: Coating Supervisor

Position Overview: The Coating Supervisor is responsible for overseeing surface preparation and coating applications, ensuring that all tasks meet industry standards and project specifications. This role requires in-depth knowledge of blasting techniques, manual surface preparation methods, and various coating systems, including protective, industrial, and marine coatings.

Qualifications:

1. Education and Certifications:

o Graduate, diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in coating is preferred.

o Certification as a Coating Inspector (NACE CIP Level 1/2 or equivalent) is highly desirable.

o OSHA or other safety certifications are advantageous.

  1. Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in coating and surface preparation, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience with industrial, oil & gas, marine, or construction projects is preferred.
  1. Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of blasting techniques (abrasive, water jetting), surface preparation standards (SSPC, NACE), and coating systems (epoxies, polyurethanes, zinc-rich primers).
  • Proficiency in identifying surface contaminants, determining appropriate preparation methods, and applying different types of coatings.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, coating procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  1. Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions.
  • Good physical fitness to handle equipment and perform manual tasks as required.
  1. Other Requirements:
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.
