  • The person taking thisposition will assist in the rearing of insects for researchpurposes.
    Environment:
  • Laboratory/office/Chamber environment.
  • While performing theduties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand;walk; sit; use hands to manipulate objects tools or controls; reachwith hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop kneel crouch orcrawl; talk or hear.
  • Work may involve long periods of standing or sitting andhandling different insect life stages. The noise level in the workenvironment is usually moderate.
  • This individual must have the ability to passa physical and pulmonary fit test for respirator use and have theability to lift 45 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to work for long periods of timein insect rearing rooms under warm and humid conditions (80 F and60% RH).
  • Steadyhands and not have an aversion to the odors put off by insects orbe allergic to them.
Tasks include:
  • Duties and responsibilities include: insectcolony maintenance (feeding cleaning cages diet prep etc.)greenhouse activities assisting with laboratory experimentssupporting field research (data collection weed removal infestingtrials etc.) following and maintaining the ISO Quality ManagementStandards wearing proper PPE and taking proper safety precautionswhile working in the lab and potentially field.
  • In addition this individual musthave excellent communication skills and the ability to work in afastpaced global and multicultural environment.
  • Required education is high schooldiploma or equivalent (GED).
  • One year of related experience and/or trainingpreferred.
  • Needssomeone that has experience interested in agriculture (LikesInsects) works quickly and pays attention to detail goodcommunicator and works well in small team environment.
  • Needs someone who is teachableand coachable
