DevOps Engineer Database Linux server infrastructure

This is a remote position.

The DevOps Engineerwill provide database infrastructure Linux server infrastructureand software support for all production systems. You will beexpected to design and implement configuration management andautomation tools for infrastructure provisioning and applicationrelease. This position requires an experienced individual who mustbe comfortable with database networking Linux systems andcontainerbased technologies. You should be familiar withmaintaining servers databases domains certificates DNS securityapproaches network systems telecommunications and interenvironmentcommunications. You will have prior experience in databases (suchas Couchbase MongoDB MySQL or MariaDB) private (OpenStackCloudStack) and public clouds (AWS Azure) and infrastructureautomation via Concourse/HelmTerraform Chef Bitbucket PipelinesTeamcity or other similar technologies (Ansible Jenkins TravisCIetc.).

Whatyou willdo:

  • Apply data modelingtechniques to ensure development and implementation support effortsmeet integration and performanceexpectations.
  • Installationadministration and maintenance of standalone and clustered MySQLand Couchbase database instances in development testing staging andproductionenvironments.
  • Deliver on assignedinfrastructure related projects with participation through projectlifecycle that includes new software releases patch upgradesprevention of feature exploitation security andaudit.
  • Design build deploytroubleshoot and maintain Linux servers in a high availability VoIPand web servicesenvironment
  • Write Infrastructureas code and Configuration Management from scratch with tools likeTerraform CloudFormation ChefAnsible.
  • Configure and supportvirtual machine managers like OpenStack KVM and public Clouds likeAWS.
  • Design build anddeploy various applications (Apache Nginx MySQL / MariaDB AsteriskCouchbase Kafkaetc.)
  • Design build anddeploy Chef cookbooks Concourse Teamcity and Bitbucket pipelinesfor production services in collaboration withDevelopment
  • Able to script tasksin shell and at least one higher order language (Ruby Python Perletc.)
  • Deployment automationmanagement and maintenance of AWS cloudbased and onpremsystems.
  • Ensuring availabilityperformance security and scalability of AWS cloudbased and onpremsystems.
  • Systemtroubleshooting and problem resolution across various applicationdomains andplatforms.
  • Application of systemsecurity by leveraging best practices and prolific cloud securitysolutions.
  • Providingrecommendations for architecture and processimprovements.
  • Definition anddeployment of systems for metrics logging and monitoring on AWSplatform.
  • Designing maintenanceand management of tools for automation of different operationalprocesses.
  • Excellentunderstanding of VLANs configuring multiple interfaces loadbalancing and firewallconcepts
  • Assist the NOC withcreating and configuring monitoring of services and softwarerunning on the Linux systems (Datadog GrafanaELK).
  • Create users andassign permissions based on authorized level of access. Preparereports of useraccess.
  • Troubleshoot variousproblems that arise in daytoday work. Independently analyze solveand correct issues in real time and provide problem resolutionendtoend.
  • Refine and automateregular processes track issues and documentchanges.
  • Share oncall rotationwith team; provide 24x7 support for critical productionsystems.
  • Perform scheduledmaintenance after hours whenneeded.
  • Share domain andtechnical expertise providing technical mentorship andcrosstraining to other peers and teammembers.

Requirements
  • BachelorsDegree in a related IT discipline or equivalent industryexperience
  • 5 years of experiencedesigning and building LINUXsystems.
  • 5 years of experienceinterfacing with network devices protocols monitoring tools andreportingapplications.
  • 2 years of experiencein provisioning operations and management of AWSenvironments.
  • Experienceconfiguring and utilizing monitoring tools to include DataDogPrometheus andSolarWinds).
  • Strong knowledge ofcomputer/network systems infrastructure requirements computersecurity systems applications procedures andstandards.
  • Experience withperformance tuning and queryoptimization.
  • Must have worked withAgile projectmethodologies.
  • Demonstrated abilityin code development in at least one highlevel programming languagelike Python Ruby Bash LinuxShell.
  • 13 years ofexperience in creation of highly automatedinfrastructures.
  • Strong attention todetail and ontime completion ofdeliverables.

  • Experienceadministering NoSQL databases with Couchbase or MongoDB. Experiencein designing developing tuning optimizing deploying and updatingNoSQL instances and Couchbase or MongoDBdataset.
