The staff nurse reports to the OT Incharge.

Help to Prepare surgeryschedule

Dothe all works as per NABH protocol

Ensure the availability of emergencymedicines in OT

Prepare expiry list of all stock medicine inside theOT

OT ArrangementCataract Lasik andRetina

Autoclaveunloading

Machine arranging

IOL verification and check theavailability

Retinal injection Verify the medicine and Maintain thestock of the same

Check oxygen nitrous and all gases suction and allother supportive equipments to beready

Maintain necessarymedicines

Check the availability of surgery instruments on daybefore

Helpto arrange instruments and dresses for Lasikprocedure

Circulation

Preparation of surgical instruments linenaesthetic articles drugs and necessarysutures.

Maintain consumptionregister

Welcomethe patient while entering toOT

Ensurefitness of patient before surgery

Ensure lab test is done beforesurgery

Assist the anesthesiadoctor

Confirm patient name MR number andeye

Checkgrade dilatation and any other complications(cataract)

Change the dress obey the OT protocol

Give peripheral block ifneeded

Assist thesurgery

Scrub the hands as per NABHrule

Ensure all instruments and otherequipments are ready( cataract lasikretina and other surgeries )

Confirm the eye type ofsurgery ( Cataract SICS/ PHACO/MICS) (Lasik OT LASIK/ PRK) (Retina AVASTIN /IVTA or other injection

Drape the patient

Assist the doctor (cataract Lasik retinaand other surgery )

Collection preserving and labelling of specimen withappropriate preservatives and sending the same tolab

OTCleaning

Necessary cleaning to be done get readyfor next case using disinfectant

Clean all machines andequipments

fumigation to be done daily and whenever it isrequired by using proper drugs

sending the swabs for culture and sensitive ones inweek and whenever it is necessary ( water

culture and AC)

Switch on theUV light

Checkthe availability of surgery instruments on daybefore

Check surgery patient appointments(cataract Lasik Retina)

Central sterilisationdepartment

Instruments washing dryingpacking

Linen packing

Cotton eye pad and gauze making andpacking

doautoclave

Auto clave the OP instruments and ward instruments toKannur branch

Sent the items to Perinthalmanna for ETOsterilisation

Receive the consumables from pharmacy and verify withrequest form and store them appropriately

Stock checking & maintenance of OTitems

Check and receive with all reports records and all otherpreoperative check list.

Coordinate with Lasik incharge

Prepare consumption form at the time ofsurgery

Maintain necessary medicine stock inOT

Ensurerecovery criteria of every patient before shift from OT toward

Anyother responsibility assigned by the management is to be carriedout
