Job Specification

Creation and documentation of test routines and conduct tests using industry-standard battery testing equipment. Development of custom test apparatus using, for example, power supplies, load banks, and Instruments interface software. Testing on batteries equipped with digital interfaces, for example, MOD bus/CAN bus. Construction and documentation of mechanical assemblies, such as battery test stations, battery prototypes and reliability test bays, and perform checkout and troubleshooting functions Data analysis using industry-standard tools (MATLAB, Origin, Excel). Create and document test results for battery modelling, simulation, and algorithms. Present and review test data with CFT and managers. Good understanding on work area safety, cleanliness, material usage and organization. RCA of failed lithium-ion battery packs, BMS & Cells. Ensure customer specific compliance. Good understanding of various chemistries with advantage & disadvantage, thermal characteristics. safety aspects of Li-on Battery Cells & BMS types. Implementation of applicable performance & safety standard requirements related to Stationary Li-Ion Battery Pack design. Development of test and validation plans for manufacturing and characterizing battery packs. Rigorous failure analysis, root cause analysis, corrective action, and communication to the cross functional teams on issues.

Bachelor’s degree in Electronics engineering or equivalent

Experience

4-5 Years Lab testing experience on Li-Ion Battery Packs. Performance & safety standard compliance. Working experience on various Li-Ion Technologies like LFP, NMC. NCA etc. Experience of running functional, environmental & safety test labs as per IS/IEC/UL Standards using applicable lab equipment for Li-Ion Battery Packs. Third party test & approval of Li-Ion Battery Packs. Preparation of Test Plans & Formats for Li-Ion Battery Packs. Preparation of Lab Test SOPs. Protype test, validation & third-party test approvals Technical product documentations RCA of failed Li-Ion Battery Packs, BMS & Cells.

Responsibilities

Processes:

Responsible for testing & validation of Li-Ion battery packs. Create and document test routines and conduct tests using industry-standard battery testing equipment. For tests not possible on industry-standard equipment, develop custom test apparatus using, for example, power supplies, load banks, and Instruments interface software. Perform testing on batteries equipped with digital interfaces, for example, MOD bus/CAN bus. Construct and document mechanical assemblies, such as battery test stations, battery prototypes and reliability test bays, and perform checkout and troubleshooting functions Perform data analysis using industry-standard tools (MATLAB, Origin, Excel). Create and document test results for battery modelling, simulation, and algorithms. Present and review test data with CFT and managers. Focus on work area safety, cleanliness, material usage and organization. Perform the teardown and forensics analysis of failed cells & BMS. Perform RCA of failed lithium-ion battery packs. Ensure customer specific compliance Performance, Environmental & Safety test of prototypes & getting design approval (In house & third party) Coordination with internal CFT members, Suppliers & third-party agencies Documentation & release of all applicable drawings, documents & SOPs related to NPD.

Technical Skills:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent technical field from an accredited institution 5+ years of practical laboratory experience, ideally including the testing and construction of lithium-ion batteries Hands-on technical background Ability to fabricate mechanical assemblies and test fixtures with little instruction Attention to detail and the ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision Good interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with CFT responsible for product development Knowledge of battery test equipment like BMS Tester, Pack Cycler, Cell Cycler, V-IR Tester, Data Logger, Thermal/Environment Chamber, Cell Grading Machine, Vibration tester etc. Modbus, Serial & CAN bus protocols
