Overview:The MainframeDB2 DBA plays a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing theperformance of the organizations mainframe DB2 databases. Thisposition is essential for ensuring the reliability security andefficiency of the mainframe database environment which is integralto the organizations data management and businessoperations.KeyResponsibilities:
  • Install configureand upgrade DB2 software on mainframesystems
  • Design and implement databasestructures and data models
  • Monitor and optimizethe performance of DB2 databases
  • Ensure datasecurity and integrity through regular backups and recoveryprocesses
  • Collaborate with applicationdevelopers to optimize SQL queries and databaseaccess
  • Troubleshoot and resolve databaserelatedissues and errors
  • Develop and maintaindocumentation for database configurations processes andprocedures
  • Implement and maintain datareplication and high availabilitysolutions
  • Plan and execute database capacityand growth management
  • Participate in oncallsupport and incident management for databaserelatedissues
  • Evaluate and recommend database toolsand utilities to enhance operationalefficiency
  • Collaborate with other IT teams tosupport mainframe and crossplatformintegration
  • Conduct regular system and databaseperformance reviews
  • Ensure compliance with datagovernance and regulatory requirements
  • Trainand mentor junior DBA staffmembers
RequiredQualifications:
  • Bachelors degree inComputer Science Information Technology or a relatedfield
  • 5 years of experience as a Mainframe DB2DBA
  • Proficiency in DB2 database administrationon mainframe platforms
  • Strong understanding ofmainframe architecture andinfrastructure
  • Expertise in SQL and performancetuning for DB2 databases
  • Experience in datareplication high availability and disaster recoverysolutions
  • Knowledge of database security bestpractices and mechanisms
  • Ability to analyze andtroubleshoot complex database issues
  • Proficientin scripting and automation for databasetasks
  • Excellent communication and collaborationskills
  • Certification in DB2 or mainframeadministration is a plus
  • Understanding ofregulatory compliance requirements for datamanagement
  • Ability to work effectively in afastpaced and dynamic environment
  • Strongproblemsolving and decisionmakingabilities
  • Experience with database performancemonitoring and tuning tools
