Mutares SE & Co. KGaA, Munich (www.mutares.com), as a listed private equity holding company, acquires medium-sized companies in special situations, based in Europe, which show significant operational improvement potential and are sold again after undergoing a repositioning and stabilization process. Mutares actively support its portfolio companies with its own investment and consulting teams and through strategic add-on acquisitions. The focus is on companies with revenues of EUR 100 million to EUR 750 million from the following segments: Automotive & Mobility, Engineering & Technology, Goods & Services and Retail & Food. The aim is to achieve a clear value increase with a focus on sustainable, long-term growth of the portfolio company.
We are seeking an experienced M&A Director to expand our initiatives in India. This role is crucial for establishing our presence in the Indian market and will be based in our new Mumbai office.
Your Tasks- Due Diligence & Coordination: Lead and conduct due diligence processes, preparing and reviewing detailed financial models to assess the financial performance of target companies
- Legal & Tax Facilitation: Engage closely with Legal, Tax, and Operations teams, conducting SPA reviews, understanding critical issues, challenging TSA, and addressing carve-out topics.
- Deal Sourcing & Stakeholder Management: Support in the acquisition of new projects, liaising with external stakeholders including M&A consultants, banks, auditors, and legal entities
- Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough quality checks of analyses, valuations, and offer documents to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Team Leadership: Provide guidance to junior team members and coordinate project activities among internal teams
- Extensive Experience: Approximately 10 years of relevant, international experience in the Indian market, specializing in M&A, investment banking, or corporate finance
- Educational Background: Successfully completed a Finance Master’s or MBA from a top-tier university
- Language Proficiency: Business fluent in English and Marathi (both written and spoken); proficiency in another European language is a plus
- Analytical and Communication Skills: Strong analytical capabilities and excellent communications skills, adept at motivating teams and making data-driven decisions
- Adaptability: Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments
