Title: Senior Software Engineer

The Group: Morningstar is seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer to lead the technical support efforts for our critical Datafeed applications developed in Node.js and ASP.NET. These applications are pivotal in delivering mission-critical data to our clients in the financial industry, and we need a seasoned professional to ensure their seamless operation and performance.

The Role: As a Senior Software Engineer (SSE), you will take on a leadership role within our technical team, providing expert-level support for our Datafeed applications while also guiding and mentoring junior team members. You will work closely with clients, internal stakeholders, and development teams to resolve complex technical issues, implement solutions, and drive continuous improvement in our support processes and systems.

Responsibilities:

Provide senior-level technical support for our Datafeed applications developed in Node.js and ASP.NET. Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues reported by clients, ensuring timely and effective resolution. Mentor and coach junior members of the technical team, providing guidance on technical best practices, troubleshooting techniques, and customer interaction. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Product Managers and Development teams, to prioritize and address customer issues and enhancement requests. Drive continuous improvement in our support processes and systems, including documentation, knowledge sharing, and training initiatives. Serve as a subject matter expert on our Datafeed applications, providing technical guidance and expertise to clients and internal teams.

Requirements:

Technical Skills:

Extensive experience with Node.js and ASP.NET for supporting complex Datafeed applications. Deep understanding of web application development, architecture, and best practices. Strong knowledge of data processing, data manipulation, and Datafeed technologies. Proficiency in relational and non-relational databases and queries. Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues.

Soft Skills:

Excellent leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire and guide junior team members. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and internal stakeholders. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a focus on delivering innovative and effective solutions. Customer-centric mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional customer support.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in technical support or a related field, with at least 2 years in a senior or leadership role. Proven track record of success in providing technical support for complex software applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the financial industry or supporting financial systems. Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure. Experience with DevOps practices and tools.
