Job Summary:

An IB EYP Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for young children in accordance with the principles and guidelines of the International Baccalaureate Early Years Programme. They play a crucial role in the development of young learners, helping them acquire essential skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for lifelong learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Curriculum Planning: Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate and inquiry-based curriculum aligned with the IB EYP framework. This should include activities that promote language development, mathematics, science, social studies, arts, physical education, and social-emotional learning.
  2. Classroom Management: Create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment where children feel safe, respected, and encouraged to explore and learn. Manage behavior and maintain discipline using positive reinforcement strategies.
  3. Assessment: Conduct ongoing assessment of students' progress and development, using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods. Use assessment data to inform instruction and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
  4. Parent Communication: Establish open and effective communication with parents and caregivers. Share students' progress, achievements, and areas for improvement. Organize parent-teacher conferences and meetings as needed.
  5. Professional Development: Stay current with the latest educational research, best practices, and IB EYP guidelines. Attend workshops, training sessions, and conferences to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  6. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, including other teachers and support staff, to create a cohesive learning community. Collaborate on curriculum development, assessment, and school-wide initiatives.
  7. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and other relevant information. Prepare and maintain portfolios and documentation as required by the IB EYP.
  8. Health and Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times. Adhere to health and safety guidelines and protocols.
  9. Professional Conduct: Uphold professional ethics and conduct in all interactions with students, parents, and colleagues. Serve as a role model for students.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Teaching certification or licensure, as required by the relevant educational authority.
  • Training or certification in IB EYP curriculum and pedagogy (if available).
  • Experience working with young children, preferably in an IB EYP or similar program.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young learners.
