About the Role The Application Developer - Flutter is responsible for designing and coding both front-end and back-end application systems. They analyze user stories / requirements, designs, develops, tests, and maintains fully-fledged and functioning applications. The Application Developer - Flutter writes code optimized for mobile and developing databases and services defined per user stories, epics, product requirements to deliver functionality in software application tuned for the web or a device following Agile / Kanban methodologies.
The Application Developer - Flutter is an expert in both front-end and back-end coding languages, development frameworks and third-party libraries while being a team player with a knack for visual design and utility. The Application Developer - Flutter will bring a mix of Design and Application Development skills, as well as complete hands-on development per requirement/user story on time. This will encompass development of server-side software following recognized standards and patterns while having the opportunity to showcase passion for technology, DevOps, and Application Development
The Application Developer - Flutter plays a crucial role in formulating strategies for the optimal utilization of Agile, DevOps practices, and Application Development utilizing the right set of technologies to support the strategic intent of JDS/Hollister.
Responsibilities:
• Application Development
o Full Stack Development:
▪ Design, develop, and maintain custom web applications including cloud-native microservices
▪ Develop clean, well-tested and maintainable code, powering complex client solutions.
▪ Design, develop, and implement frontend and backend software for complex web applications.
o Agile Collaboration:
▪ Work closely with business analysts and product owners to understand requirements.
▪ Participate in Agile development processes, attend stand-ups, and contribute to sprint planning and retrospectives.
o DevOps Integration:
▪ Ensure seamless deployment of software.
▪ Write code and scripts for deployment.
▪ Collaborate with DevOps leads on infrastructure setup.
o Problem Diagnosis and Communication:
▪ Diagnose and provide solutions for recurring problems requiring special attention.
▪ Foster open communication and fast feedback with development teams to improve developer efficiency and workflows.
o Innovations and Collaboration:
▪ Design and implement innovations to improve increment release velocity, DevOps resiliency, automated testing, and security.
▪ Collaborate with Software Development and Engineering to ensure new pipelines are created in parallel with code builds.
▪ Partner with Enterprise Architecture to continuously review changes to the technology stack, common components, and tools.
o Emergency Response and Business Understanding:
▪ Respond to system issues, including high-priority incident calls and emergency activities outside of standard office hours.
▪ Collaborate with internal and external application and business partners to understand their needs and adapt departmental roadmap plans and priorities.
o Automated Testing:
▪ Work with the DevOps Lead, ScrumMaster and the broader team to implement Automated testing.
▪ Lead the development of continuous integration and deployment solutions for applications across various sites/software.
• Software Testing:
o Take a Test-Driven Development (TDD) approach
o Understand and perform unit testing for individual components.
o Use applicable tools for testing front-end and backend components.
o Integration Testing: Test interactions between front-end and back-end components.
o Verify seamless collaboration between different parts of the application.
o End-to-End Testing: Validate the entire application flow.
o Continuous Testing: Implement continuous testing practices throughout development, integrate testing for CI/CD pipeline.
• Documentation
o Own the creation and enhancement of wiki-like documentation to help nurture Application Development
o Make it easier for junior developers to get on-board and start coding and delivering apps in increments.
• Effectively partner with other IT groups to deliver IT services.
o Collaborate with PMO, Enterprise Architecture, Enterprise Integrations, Automation, Application Development, Systems Engineering, Business Analysts, and Database Architecture functions to meet business needs while ensuring application Global IT standards and procedures are followed.
• Track appropriate metrics and key performance indicators.
o Maintain and support processes and ensures ongoing communication of such processes to internal teams and business customers.
• Identify avenues for continuous improvement for services within scope of responsibility, including new approaches and processes that would contribute to improvements within department and to business growth/efficiency in the wider organization.
o Assist with the development of policies, procedures, and technologies.
o Keep up with industry's best practices and trends on behalf of Application Development
o Keep abreast of new technologies and advancements in the Application Development
o Stay on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal and external technology communities.
• Incident management
o Assumes incidents appropriately and deliver accordingly.
o Escalate issues; engage vendor support; provide timely response to customer escalations.
o Participate in data center disaster recovery planning and execution.
• Perform other duties as assigned related to this function globally.

Work Experience Requirements
•
3 + years of experience as a Flutter Developer
Education Requirements
• BS/BA - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
•
Application Development certification
Specialized Skills/Technical Knowledge:
•
Designing, developing, testing, maintaining, and deploying software in the Flutter framework and Dart language.
•
Developing user interface components and implementing them by following well-known Flutter / Dart workflows and practices.
•
Communicating with product and engineering leads to implement business and project objectives.
•
Code review of team members' commits as part of CI/CD cycle.
•
Participate in testing, quality assurance and bug fixes as part of the CI/CD cycle.
•
Experience developing mobile apps natively in iOS and/or Android.
•
Commercial experience developing and delivering Flutter based apps.
•
Good understanding of state management, Flutter flavors and app architecture.
•
Strong communications and consultative skills. Self-initiated and proactive.
•
Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
Nice to have:
•
Firebase, Azure DevOps, PWA (Progressive Web Apps).
•
Full stack proficiency including backend (C#, Java, etc.) and frontend frameworks (React, Vue, Angular)
•
Experience with databases (relational/document: MySQL, Mongo, Postgres, etc.)
•
Knowledge of version control (git, svn, etc)
•
Automated test experience (unit, integration)
•
