Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Staff Backend Engineer to join our Platform team in Bangalore. This role involves designing, developing, and optimizing backend systems that are crucial for the scalability and reliability of our products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend development, experience with cloud infrastructure, and a passion for building high-quality, performant systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Architect and Design : Lead the design and architecture of robust, scalable backend systems. Development : Implement and optimize backend services and APIs using technologies such as Kotlin, Java, Spring Boot, Quarkus, Micronaut, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and any timeseries database. System Integration : Work on integrating various SaaS applications to fetch usage and configuration data, generating actionable insights. Performance Optimization : Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in APIs and database queries, achieving significant reductions in response times. Code Quality and Refactoring : Refactor codebases to improve modularity and maintainability, and establish coding guidelines to ensure consistency and high standards of code quality. Collaboration : Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions. Mentorship and Code Reviews : Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers, promoting best practices in coding and system design.

Required Skills and Experience:

Programming Languages : Proficiency in Kotlin, Java, TypeScript, Python, and C++. Frameworks and Libraries : Good experience with Spring Boot, Quarkus, Micronaut, Junit, and Mockito. Databases : Expertise in MySQL, PostgreSQL, and any timeseries database. Infrastructure : Experience with AWS and related cloud technologies. Tools : Proficiency in Git and Jenkins.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of microservices architecture, GraphQL APIs, and RESTful APIs. Experience in leading technical projects and mentoring junior engineers. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes. Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
