Job Description:

As a Senior Mold Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing moulds used in the production of plastic components. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the efficiency, quality, and reliability of the moulds used in our manufacturing processes. The detailed responsibilities include:

1.Mold Design: Designing moulds for plastic components considering factors such as part geometry, material properties, manufacturing processes, and tooling requirements.

2.CAD Modeling: Utilizing CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software to create detailed 3D models of molds and components, ensuring precision and accuracy in design.

3.Mold Analysis: Performing mold flow analysis and simulations to optimize mold design for factors like filling, cooling, and warpage, ensuring efficient production and high-quality output.

4.Tooling Selection: Selecting appropriate tooling materials and components based on project requirements, ensuring durability and cost-effectiveness of molds.

5.Collaboration: Collaborating with cross-functional teams including product designers, engineers, and manufacturing personnel to ensure seamless integration of mold designs with overall product development and production processes.

6.Documentation: Creating comprehensive documentation including design drawings, specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOM) to facilitate manufacturing and quality control processes.

7.Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction in mold design and manufacturing processes, and implementing relevant improvements.

8.Quality Assurance: Ensuring compliance with quality standards and specifications throughout the mold design and manufacturing process, and addressing any quality issues or concerns proactively.

9.Training and Mentorship: Providing guidance and mentorship to junior mold designers and engineering staff, fostering their professional development and expertise in mold design.

Innovation: Keeping abreast of latest advancements in mold design technology and industry trends, and integrating innovative solutions into mold design processes to enhance efficiency and performance

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or related field.
  • CIPET certification with specialization in Plastic Mold Engineering.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Pro/ENGINEER) for 3D modeling and design.
  • Strong understanding of plastic materials, molding processes, and mold design principles.
  • Experience with mold flow analysis and simulation software (e.g., Moldflow, Autodesk Simulation Moldflow).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
