Category Analyst - Automobile Industry 
 
Position Overview: 
The Category Analyst plays a pivotal role in ensuring optimal inventory management and assortment 
strategies for oil and battery products across our stores. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong 
analytical skills, and excellent communication abilities to effectively collaborate with vendors, 
negotiate contracts, and implement assortment plans. 
 
Responsibilities:  
1.Inventory and Assortment Management:  
∙Maintain accurate inventory levels and assortment by store for oil and battery products. 
∙Ensure accurate stock levels and assortment settings to meet customer demand. 
∙Monitor inventory levels, assess stock availability, and manage assorted vs. 
miscellaneous items. 
∙Analyse sales data, market trends, and customer preferences to optimize assortment 
strategies. 
∙Ensure timely replenishment of stock to meet customer demand and minimize out-of-
stock situations. 
  
2.RFXS (Request for X Supplier) Process:  
∙Lead the monthly RFXS process to source and procure necessary products from 
suppliers. 
∙Evaluate vendor proposals, negotiate pricing and terms, and select suppliers that offer 
the best value for the company. 
∙Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business objectives 
and compliance with procurement policies. 
  
3.Vendor Relationship and Negotiations:  
∙Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with vendors to foster collaboration and drive 
mutually beneficial outcomes. 
∙Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to optimize cost savings and maintain 
competitive advantage. 
∙Address vendor concerns and resolve issues promptly to ensure smooth operations and 
vendor satisfaction. 
  
4.Inventory Cleanup:  
∙Conduct regular inventory audits and cleanup activities to reconcile discrepancies and 
maintain data accuracy. 
∙Implement corrective actions to address inventory inaccuracies and improve overall 
inventory management processes. 
∙Work closely with store personnel to ensure adherence to inventory management 
protocols and best practices. 
  
5.Report Generation and Data Analysis:  
∙Generate comprehensive reports on inventory levels, sales performance, and assortment 
effectiveness. 
∙Utilize data analytics tools and techniques to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for 
improvement. 
∙Present findings and recommendations to management to support informed decision-
making and strategic planning. 
  
 

 

 
6.Assortment Setting and Implementation:  
∙Collaborate with merchandising and marketing teams to develop assortment strategies 
based on market research and customer insights. 
∙Implement assortment plans across stores, considering regional variations and store-
specific requirements. 
∙Monitor assortment performance and adjust as needed to maximize sales and 
profitability. 
  
Requirements:  
∙Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Marketing, or 
a related field. 
∙Minimum of 6 years of experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of success 
in inventory management and catalog analysis, preferably in the automobile industry. 
∙Strong understanding of supply chain principles, inventory management techniques, and 
procurement processes. 
∙Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. 
∙Proficiency in data analysis tools/software (e.g., Excel, Tableau) and inventory 
management systems. 
∙Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced
