The position

As a Head of Communications & Public Affairs at Novo Nordisk GBS in Bangalore, you will play a critically important role in managing and driving the communications function in tandem with the CVP (Corporate Vice President) office. You will report to the CVP & MD, GBS (Global Business Services, Bangalore). Your primary leadership responsibilities will be:

Executive Communication: Working with your team, prepare GBS Management leadership communication, including videos, speech writing, and other core messaging support. Develop and drive change management communication and ensure national communication in collaboration with Novo Nordisk India. Contribute to concept development and project management for major GBS meetings, events, and campaigns such as Open House, EVP (Executive Vice President) visits, Leadership Connects, and Leadership Summits. Inspire and lead the communications team for GBS Bangalore: Work with the skilled team of 3 professional communicators to develop coherent, integrated, and innovative communications strategies which engage employees, inspire our stakeholders, and drive brand awareness in the external environment. Supporting the GBS Site Strategy: Develop and drive communication plans and initiatives to support the launch and implementation of the 2025 GBS Strategy. Maintain regular communication with global stakeholders and support the CVP’s ambition around employee engagement, employee experience, and retention. Manage Internal Communication Channels: Working with your team, use internal communication to create aligned messages and promote initiatives across GBS. Drive internal news flow and story development as well as material creation and film production through relevant channels. Streamline and professionalize internal communication channels, including exploring and executing new digital channels and cross-pollination of best practices. External Communication and Employer Branding: Working with your team, develop external communication strategy focusing on Novo Nordisk brand management and alignment with talent acquisition goals. Amplify talent value proposition through channels including website, LinkedIn, and other company-owned social media channels. Public Affairs Advocacy: Manage relationships with industry bodies, external stakeholders including policymakers, and other key opinion leaders. Identify key external events which may include government or industry-related activities. Understand public policy and public affairs engagement. Leadership: Lead training, provide advice, and monitor compliance against our Corporate Visual Identity (CVI) and Communications policies and procedures. Manage budget responsibility and work closely with third-party agencies to deliver on our requirements. Evaluate whether internal skills or external agencies should be used for creating various communication channels.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate who possesses:

A qualification in English, public relations, communications, journalism, politics, or another related field preferred. Agency experience in a public relations, public affairs, or communications firm preferred. Over 15 years in corporate communication in an international environment. Excellent writing skills with a strong ability to engage diverse audiences. Ability to evaluate, monitor, and report public affairs developments and their relevance to us as a business. Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment, with strong project management skills. Adept at engaging broad audiences of stakeholders. High level of integrity. Flexibility and readiness for change; curiosity and positivity towards new learning and practices. Cultural awareness; promote diversity and inclusion. Ability to drive own performance and independently plan and prioritize tasks within the framework and objective of the function. Excellent communication, negotiation, diplomatic, and listening skills – ability to present/communicate difficult and problematic issues constructively and effectively. Strong leadership capabilities and ability to motivate, engage, and continuously develop employees. Strong decision-making skills. Creativity and understanding of design/visual engagement, with the ability to come up with new ideas.

About the department

The Department of Communication GBS is responsible for maintaining and enhancing positive relations with external audiences, including the general public, shareholders, investors, government, etc. Our activities include influencing public opinion to protect and promote the reputation of the organization, improving our regulatory and economic environments, addressing social, economic, and environmental challenges, and promoting a positive image in the communities in which we operate. We work closely with internal departments such as HR to develop internal communications consistent with the organization’s strategic vision and mission. Our team is based in Whitefield, Bangalore, India and operates in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
