Purpose of the main job

Directly supervises employees. Carries out all responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, standard operating procedures, and best practices. Always ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Responsibilities includes interviewing, hiring, training and mentoring employees; evaluate performance of assigned personnel, monitor performance action plans for employees, improve operational efficiencies by focusing on customer service and maximizing production and profit; will direct workflow; always maintain harmony in the workplace and professional business demeanor.

Main responsibilities

Supervising all the processes associated with karyotyping and FISH. Day to Day checking of primary and secondary long-term cultures. Final Checking of the Slides whenever necessary. Work allocation to the team members and smooth functioning of all the work process. Trouble Shooting. Finalizing and reporting the cases for karyotyping and FISH. Training the team to be competent in wetlab and drylab. Supervise Indent / Stock Maintenance. Interact with Customers, attending to their queries either through phone calls or emails, and documenting the conversations appropriately for follow up by customer care team/ other teams. Maintain proposed TAT for tests – Karyotyping and FISH. Prioritize urgent Reports when necessary. Team management, Supervising general operations of the Cytogenetics lab. Following up calibrations, preventive maintenance, and AMCs of instruments, Cytovision and Metafer software’s. Coordinating with the Service personnel and other support teams. Following Quality Manual, Safety Manual and relevant SOPs. Any other work allotted by the Lab Director from time-to-time.

REQUIRED COMPETENCE

Education - Ph.D. in genetics/ human genetics/ biomedical genetics or M.B.B.S., M.D., (Pathology)

Preferable: Human Cytogenetics research work as part of PhD program \

Required work experience related to position

Experience in signing out reports and authorized by NABL for cytogenetics reporting- including constitutional, prenatal and oncology segments Handling CAP and other EQAS Proficiency testing/ reporting successfully Experience in signing out FISH reports, both prenatal and oncology based Handling direct reportees of > 5 members Experience in handling functioning laboratory independently 10 plus years’ experience in field of Cytogenetics Genetics/ Genetics. Experience in an NABL accredited laboratory. Desirable to have experience in reporting out > 500 cases (FISH + KT) a month Experience with chromosome breakage test and reporting

Special requirements / Skills / Attributes

Responsible for TAT for patient reports. P&L of the department and each section- FISH and Karyotyping. Tracking Quality Metrics and planning improvements. New Products Initiation & Implementation.
