Description:
  • Takes a high volume of inbound or placesoutbound calls to provide information and services tocustomers.
  • Utilizes a database to retrievecustomer or company information.
  • Must be ableto learn and follow detailed instructions use a variety ofresources and possess good organizational skills to provideaccurate information.
  • Follows processes andsteps to ensure appropriate actions and follow through taken forcustomers.
  • Document needs for customers indatabases.
  • Must demonstrate patience tactempathy and problem solving skills with consistently good voicequality.
  • Can organize and handle calls withspeed and accuracy. Must be able to be available to customers for acertain period of time during the day.
  • Canwork with complex computer applications and resourcematerials.
  • Can use multiple operatingenvironments (Windows DOS Mainframe).
  • Musthave proven skills in the following PC software products LotusNotes Excel MS Word
Years Experience:
  • Min. 1 yr. Knowledge of VA Workers Comp PAAppeals is a must.
Skills:
  • Understanding of Medicare rules andregulations
  • Understanding of managed care asit relates to benefits and authorizations
  • Advanced MS Office experience
  • Strongverbal and written communication skills
Education:
  • Min. HS diploma or GED equivalent
Duties:
  • Contacts insurance companies to verify insurancebenefits
  • Initiates preauthorization requestsfor new and ongoing services with insurance companies and performsfollow up activities for an outcome
  • FilesAppeals for denied coverage to insurance companies asneeded
  • Maintains customer records in practicemanagement system related to benefit coverage coordination ofbenefits authorizations denials appeals outcomes and communicationwith insurance company
  • Coordinates andcommunicates with other departments as needed to obtain necessaryinformation to complete benefit verification authorization appealsand outcomes for services of care
  • Providescustomers with information that includes but is not limited to:updates on status of authorizations developing & communicatingpatient financial responsibility estimates and collecting copays ifapplicable
  • Applies knowledge of companyprocedures contracted and noncontracted guidelines to process casesaccordingly and to respond to incoming correspondence anddocumentation as well as updating customer records according tooutcomes; performs other related duties as assigned.
