Position: US Tax Individual Specialist


Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and review individual tax returns (Form 1040) for clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current tax laws and regulations.
  2. Handle complex tax situations related to individuals, including high-net-worth individuals, expatriates, and foreign nationals.
  3. Proficiently navigate and complete international tax forms such as Form 5471 (Information Return of U.S. Persons With Respect to Certain Foreign Corporations), Form 8858 (Information Return of U.S. Persons With Respect to Foreign Disregarded Entities), and FBAR (Foreign Bank Account Report).
  4. Provide guidance and support to clients regarding foreign asset reporting requirements, including FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act) compliance and reporting obligations.
  5. Stay updated on changes in tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements related to both domestic and international taxation.
  6. Communicate effectively with clients to address inquiries, explain tax implications, and offer strategic tax planning advice.
  7. Collaborate with colleagues and management to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality tax services and adherence to firm standards.
  8. Assist in resolving tax notices, audits, and other tax-related issues for individual clients.
  9. Maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive client information and financial data.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification preferred.
  2. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in individual tax preparation and advisory services, with a focus on Form 1040.
  3. Expertise in international tax compliance, including experience with Forms 5471, 8858, and FBAR.
  4. Strong understanding of US tax laws and regulations pertaining to international taxation, including foreign income exclusions, foreign tax credits, and reporting requirements for foreign financial accounts and assets.
  5. Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., Lacerte, Drake, ProSeries) and Microsoft Excel.
  6. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
  7. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage workload efficiently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  9. Demonstrated commitment to client service excellence and ethical conduct in the practice of tax accounting.
