PositionSummary:The Cardiac Cath Lab RegisteredNurse promotes and restores patients health by completing thenursing process of assessment planning implementation andevaluation of nursing care for patients requiring an invasiveprocedure based upon age specific and culturalneeds.

  • Performsplan of care intervention including medication administrationspecimen collection clinical treatments as well as other medicalcaretreatment.

  • Documentspatient caregiven.

  • Monitorspatient vital signs and condition during the intraoperative phase.Communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team surgeonanesthesia andfamily.

  • Collaboratesas needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care includingpatient transfer discharge referral and spiritual/psychosocialsupportneeds.

  • Evaluateslearning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/familyeducation appropriate to age culture condition and circumstances.Completes discharge phonecalls.

  • Worksas an advocate for the physical and emotional wellbeing of thepatient.

  • Initiatesemergency resuscitation measures according to adult resuscitationand advanced life supportprotocols.

  • Monitorsthe sterile field and surgical environment to preventinfection.

  • FollowsUniversal Protocol and participates in time out as part of patientsafetyinitiatives.

  • Collectsand enters data for Chest Pain Society and for NCDR (NationalCardiovascular Data Registries) Cath PCI and ICDRegistries.
