Director of Data Engineering

JP Morgan Asset and Wealth Management technology is seeking a passionate software engineering leader to guide a team responsible for building an advanced analytics platform for our sales and marketing organization. This role offers the chance to utilize your leadership and engineering skills, build a scalable data platform on Amazon Web Services cloud, and collaborate with global stakeholders in defining strategy for future data insights. You'll be part of a diverse team that values creativity and teamwork, with the opportunity to shape the technical architecture to meet future needs.

As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Asset and Wealth Management technology division, you will be given the unique opportunity to guide a skilled team of software engineers. Your primary responsibility will be to develop a state-of-the-art analytics and insights platform for our sales and marketing department. This role provides an opportunity to utilize your leadership and fundamental engineering skills, and to construct a scalable data platform on AWS cloud capable of processing billions of records and executing thousands of data pipelines and reports on a daily basis.

Job Responsibilities

- Build and lead a work class engineering team
- Be Passionate about technology and obsessed about delivering solutions to our clients
- Defining and executing on a roadmap to address both current and future needs of our clients
- Design and architecture capabilities highly scalable data platforms to crunch billions of records daily
- Need to manage stakeholder and collaborate across all levels
- Should be able to understand talent needs of the team and be able to recruit talent to grow the team.
- Strong communication skills (verbal & written)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

Formal training or certification on data platform concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise" Hands on expert level experience with Python, PySpark, or Java. Strong understanding of building spark jobs and tuning spark to meet or exceed performance benchmarks Demonstrate experience shipping software products to crunch billions of records using AWS technologies like EMR, ECS, Lambdas, APIs, Redshift, S3, Athena, RDS, or Opensearch

Preferred qualifications

3+ years of experience working on cloud platforms (AWS preferred) Experience with building data engineering pipelines and reporting tools a plus
